Instead of buying from a breeder, you should rescue a siamese from the humane society or an animal shelter, you can get a pureblood for $20 to $50 and it will have had its shots and a vet checkup already, but if you buy one from a breeder or pet store ($150 to $450) you still have to take it to a vet ($100 to $275) so its a lot better to rescue one or two.

It's hard to find the traditional 'apple head' siamese anymore because breeders aren't breeding for that. They like the thin types that look like they've been shoved through a mailing tube (sad, yes, the older ones had better intelligence because the skull wasn't altered with this 'thin' breeding).

Right now the cat that MOST looks like the old siamese is the tonkinese, they come in points like the siamese do, and have the rounder heads.

But you can call around and contact any siamese breeders listed in the files online (check out the cat registration pages) and ask if they know of anyone with the old style kittens. I don't think you'll have a lot of success, but one of them may be able to put you onto a person who still keeps the old style.

If you want a purebred, find a breeder whose cats are "apple-head" (I assume that's what you mean, not the new super-skinny Siamese.) Look on some breeders' websites and they should have pictures of their kittens and adult cats so you can see if that is the kind you want.

If you don't want a purebred, you might just look in the papers to see if anyone is advertising Siamese kittens. Those backyard breeders who advertise in the paper and don't charge hundreds of dollars are likely to have the old-style Siamese. They may not be purebred, but they will still be Siamese if they look Siamese. I got a couple of really beautiful Siamese this way and they were the best pets you could ask for. But my purebred that I have now is also very sweet and beautiful.

If you want a cat that can be registered you may need to find a breeder.

Surprisingly you may be able to find a kitten who is very close to being purebred at your local shelter. I've seen many cats that appear to be purebred up for adoption, I ended up adopting a peke-faced Persian from our shelter.
As a foster mom I've raised many Siamese mix kittens for adoption as well.

If you are open to a kitten who may not be a pure-bred you may find you have many options, and often a mixed-breed is a healthier kitten as well

keep in mind siamese cats meow very loudly are very possesive and extremely costly for a true breed. There are many different points in their colours the blue and lilac points will be harder to get the chocolate point will be more common.
