i heard that you could fry okra whole. i love fried okra but i have always cut it up and covered in corn meal before frying. i want to fry it whole but am not sure how to prepare it. any ideas

I would prepare it the same way as the cut up style, just be very careful when you bite into it, as there will be a lot more hot liquid inside!

My mom used to make the best fried okra (following the slice and dust with cornmeal method) in a big black cast iron skillet using bacon grease. Yum yum. I made this for my husband (who thought I was quite mad at first) but he liked it and he'd never had it in his life. You can also batter dip the whole ones and pop them in a Fry Baby.

Same way u cook it cut up. Use a good black skillet . We use peanut oil to fry. I also dip mine in ketchup after it is fried. GOOD!

Absolutely yes!
You are right about how to do it! Just cut it up in pieces, then soak in milk/egg batter, then dust in corn meal/flour combination.
Fry it in a black skillet for best results just like my grandma!
