The bible says we're not supposed to talk like that. (Read book of James for more specific instruction regarding the way we should and shouldn't speak to one another.) Our words & actions should edify / give glory to God - not be offensive to others. But we're all human and sometimes the flesh wins out over the spirit. I would be lying if I said I didn't cuss sometimes when I get hurt (usually if I hit my funny bone on something - OUCH!!), but I also know God forgives me because my heart is convicted now if that happens and I repent immediately. Romans 8:1 tells us there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Not every Christian is on the same level regarding their relationship with God...HE will help them overcome this problem in HIS timing. God knows our hearts. I used to be really bad about this, but as I began to spend more time with God, I also began to cuss less & less. As Joyce Meyer likes to say..."I'm not where I need to be, but thank God I'm not where I USED to be!"

Christians shouldn't cuss, that doesn't mean they won't though. Christianity is not a magic pill, you don't become a Christian and all of your faults disappear overnight.
I doubt your friends actually believe they should cuss, if you were to ask them about it, they would say they shouldn't. I bet some of them smoke too, or tell a lie from time to time. People have to work on things, people have certain weaknesses they have to overcome. Cussing doesn't make them not Christian, it just means they made a mistake at that particular time.

Christians are still human. We will never be perfect. Don't expect too much out of Christians. Some of them walk around with their noses stuck up in the air, thinking they're better than everyone else.
Some put standards of behavior on others that they can't live up to themselves, they are judgmental, critical, hypocrites who think they're perfect and everyone else is beneath them.
Christians don't stop becoming human when they accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. They just try harder to live the way God wants them to live.
God cares much more about where our hearts are than He does about saying a few cuss words now and then. We aren't going to hell for cussing.
Lighten up on your friends. They're not wrong.

You can't curse God or use his name in vain. Other than that, cuss like a sailor if it makes you feel better. It is just bad manners.

there are no verses that prohibit cussing.
cursing? yeah. but cussing? no.
cussing is matter of respect, to some people "dangit", "freak", and "crap"are considered cuss words. *shrug* its all dependant upon the person your talking to.

The prohibition against swearing in the bible was about oaths; swearing by one's mother, or by my childrens heads or by the king or whatever. For instance, in the Mafia you had to swear an oath to never reveal your crime partners and bosses. This practice is considered wrong in the bible. Ironically in our court system they want you to swear on the bible before you testify.
Cussing is not the same
