I have a doctors appointment really soon, because i think my tonsils have to come out (says my mom) but im not sure. My throat hurts a lot!

If i do have to get my tonsils removed, like everyone thinks i do, im really nervous...
1. How much will it hurt?
2. Do they put me to sleep while taking them out?
3. How fast do I have to be taken to the hospital?
4. How longs the recovery period?

I strongly recommend that you get a second and even third opinion from a Medical Doctor. Make sure you understand all the pro's and con's and only then make a decision whether you want them removed or not. Not that it is necessarily bad to remove them but i would still make sure I understand all aspects 100% before removing them. Good luck!

The procedure takes about 30mins (a very minor procedure!). Yes, they do put you to sleep. It's generally an outpatient procedure so you'll be home that afternoon. It really doesn't hurt that bad...you will have a bit of throat discomfort after the surgery but you'll have pain medication. Ice cream and ice chips work well to soothe the pain as well. Recovery is usually only a few days. It'll be worth it to rid yourself of the constant throat pain you already have. Talk to your dr, he or she should be able to put your concerns to rest.
Look at it this way...they do this procedure more often on children than adults and they come through it just fine. You will too!

The pain is minimal...it's as if you have strep throat...it's really sore and scratchy. For the first 3 days you will need to eat things like ice chips, popsicles, soup broth...absolutely NO MILK PRODUCTS...this will cause phlegm and will make you cough. They will put you to sleep to take them out. It's really up to you on how "fast" you should be taken to the hospital. For myself it was because I was moaning while I ate and I was gasping while I slept because my tonsils were enlarged. The full recovery period is about 7-10 days.

Know the asteroid wellhead tonsil stones them for many years and it's been title not eventually.

Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.

It really isnt bad at all. One thing my momma told me before I went in to get mine done, was to not cry. Do not cry because it will make the stiches open back up. Be strong and know that it will hurt alil bit but at least you'll be able to get as much ice cream as you want in a couple days. So just don't cry its not that bad at all.

I was told that they try to avoid this operation on anyone over the age of 17 because of the increased risk of bleeding and other complications. I got a lot of relief by treating my allergies (with Claritin) as a substitute for surgery.
