not to biodiesel. it would be possible to run it on bioethanol though. strictly speaking, it would run on ethanol without any conversion, althoug it would greatly reduce the life of the engine. to do it practically without conversion, you would have to alternate fillings between normal gas and ethanol, because normal gasoline will clean the system( weird as that sounds) to do it with a conversion would mean that you would coat the inside of the gas tank with rubber, as well as anything metal that carries gasoline. I do not know if yoou would have to coat the pistons, but probably not. It might be cheaper/safer just to but a new car.

I assume when you say "conventional engine" you mean the engine in a conventional gasoline powered car. Most cars have gasoline engines, but a few have diesel. If you have a diesel car, you would know it because diesel is not available at all gas stations and putting gasoline in a diesel engine will ruin it. A VW bus has a gasoline engine, not a diesel engine. So, no, a VW bus cannot be converted.

Anything can be converted, if you want to throw enough money at it. But practically, it can't. The bus engine was almost certainly a gas engine, and it won't run on diesel fuel of any sort. The only option would be to replace the engine with a diesel engine, and the cost would probably be horrendous. Stick with the gas engine, or better yet, get a more modern, safer, less polluting vehicle.

No. VW Bus's are air cooled engines and gasoline. Now if it were Diesel it might stand of being converted, but the air cooled engine would be quiite a leap to figure out.

yes and no...

Diesels are a fairly easy conversion...

Converting a gasoline enine to run on biodiesel... will cost more than the old VW (and 3 other old VW's) would be worth.

You can convert any engine to run on any fuel... all it takes is money.

Only if the VW Bus has a diesel engine. If so, then it might require some minor modifications, but yes, it's an easy conversion.

Biodiesel are being found as a worse pollutant than a regular gas engine do not convert. Make it hybrid. Electric and Gas it is better.

notice the difference... Bio DIESEL, vw bus with a GASOLINE engine. The answer is no. Not without changing the entire engine from gas powered to a diesel powered one. then yeah.. you can run it on frenchfry grease if you want.

As Diesel ignition involves high compression index ( over 14:1) your old WW engine almost sure will not work, unless you make deep changes on it, ie. cutting your cylinder heads in order to increase your compression factor which is very low in WW engines. I wouldn't waste money doing this work unless you want to develop a research. New models of engines with a high compression rate over 14:1 could be possible.

Biodiesel needs no conversions to your engine.

Straight vegetable oil does though.

Biodiesel is refined to remove the thickening glycerin.
