I would like to make flour tortillas, whether they will be whole wheat or flour, I don't know.
Can you make tortillas without a tortilla press?
If so, how ?
Can anyone give me an estimate of how much a tortilla press would cost?

You can make them without a press. Just use a rolling pin to make a round, then plop one in a dry cast iron skillet. Don't use oil in the skillet or they'll get crispy.

However, I swear by my electric VillaWare tortilla press. No rolling out involved. It cost me about $70 with shipping. That was 5 years ago and it still works great and it's a good investment. There's nothing like homemade tortillas, and I even converted my husband over to homemade!

Flour tortillas don't require a press. Use a rolling pin!

I must be getting old. I have never heard of a tortilla press. I always made them by hand using a small rolling pin.

A press is usually used for corn tortillas. It is not needed for flour ones.

You don't need a tortilla press, simply roll them out using a rolling pin or a smooth glass.
