i think losing davey and also alan kulwicki changed what nascar might have been.they were both drivers who raced hard and could have competed with dale sr and gordon for them championships in the 90s . a good friend of mine died in 98 and had his davey allison hat on when they planted him in the ground

I watched the Ultimate NASCAR: The Families on Friday nite and it certainly was a refresher course in the Allisons and Davey and Clifford as well as Bobby. I think Davey's star had only begun to rise. I agree that he could have been a record breaker.
BTW, that segment on the families of NASCAR was wonderful. Anyone who missed it but loves NASCAR should make an effort to see it when it re-runs or buy the DVD when it becomes available tomorrow. It was very well done.

Davey had what it took and although I was an Earnhardt fan, the day Davey died was just a dreadful melancholy day.

Sally B. is right. I watched that episode, The Families, and it was, in my opinion, the best segment of the whole series.

The most powerfully poignant two hours of television I have ever seen.

I never was a Lee or Richard Petty fan, but Kyle softened my views and Adam won me over. What a terrible loss!

The loss of Dale Earnhardt was painful but softened by the fact he had reached his potential.

With Davey and Adam, the "what could have beens" and opportunities lost are too overwhelming to comprehend.

Davey Allison was a awesome driver next to his father Bobby,he came from one of the great racing teams in Alabama. Was took away to young in life, would have been hard to beat and a killer on the track.

Followed Davey from the "peach fuzz" gang.
If we had not lost this driver at least one possably 2 drivers would have 1 or 2 less championships.
RIP Davey.

Yes he was the best at his time I think. He not only drove but could work on his own car. He had many talents. And personality plus.
He got my 24 year old son hooked and when he passed he lost alot of his will to watch.. but he is back now with his love of nascar and is rooting for Stewart.. dont ask me why.. he just likes him and that is all that matters to him.

Nah. I said that so they'd pay the deductible so I could get my own car out of the shop. Good God, he cried like a suicidal emo once he realized the truth.

OH HELL YA!!!!! Davey was "Da' Man!!!!"

Had he not been killed, I think he'd be the one being boo'd for breaking Earnhardt's 76 wins, AND Petty's/Earnhardt's 7 Championships!!!!!
