i was given it for a bad skin and blood infection on my arm... heard it's steroid cream, so slightly worried, can it do me any harm?

Yes, fucidin h contains hydrocortisone and fusidic acid. The hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid....not a powerful one. But, since it is a corticosteriod, a little goes a long way so always apply it sparingly and thinly.

Side effects include:
rash
skin irritation
folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles)
increased hair growth at usage site
contact dermatitis
change in pigmentation at usage site

Please note that not everyone gets side effects! It should not cause you any harm as long as you use it as directed and only for the issue for which it was prescribed for (usually a skin disorder complicated with a bacterial infection). Don't take it upon yourself to use it for every skin issue (acne, rashes, itching, etc) that you develop. It is not right for every skin problem.
