Personally I use stainless steel for my own dogs because ti is easy to keep clean, and doesn't weigh too much when I am carrying 3 large bowls full of food. Plus when I drop them they don't break. The only reason I don't use plastic is because my dogs like to chew anything plastic :P I use plastic for my foster cats and foster puppies and have never had any sort of infection. Personally I think that is some sort of myth as I have never known anyone's pet to get an infection from a plastic bowl. As long as you keep them clean, plastic or stainless are both fine

No worries about lead poisoning in stainless steel. Lead is not part of the alloying.

There's probably more concern about lead poisoning from ceramic/China since the paints and glazes can contain lead.

you cant make glass from stainless steel, but you can make a mug /tankard from stainless steel and its not posible to get lead poisioning from this because it contains no lead. Stainless steel comprises of Carbon, Magnesiun, Phosphorus, Sulfur, Silicon, Chromium(which is why its stainless), Nickel, Molybdenum and Nitrogen, no lead in sight.

if it was a lea glass it would be certainly yes,but not a stainless steel glass.
royalties used to eat with silver and gold cutlery it was taken up in their blood stream and they rarely got ill,so a case where some one gets lead poisoning from a glass or cutlery would be possible, but not from stainless steel
