I need to find a way to create electricity to power my house from scratch. I am doing a really dangerous experiment but I am willing to risk it.

Purchase a gas-powered generator.

You will almost never find a source of power that's more reliable and cheaper than your local electric company. The only exception I can think of would be if your house is a long distance from the supply line, so that they need to run several thousand feet of line to get to you. Then, a generator and/or solar power make make sense. And even then you'll have to learn how to design and install a good low-voltage system to approximate what life on the grid would be like. Then you'll need to maintain it, too, and your odds of success will really take a nosedive.

But what does this have to do with a "really dangerous experiment:??? Are you trying to reanimate a corpse that Igor stole from the graveyard last night? Bad news for you - you should have had your electrical supply ready earlier. Odds are the corpse will get really, really smelly before you can get it set up.

Well, if you want to generate your own electricity just as a science project, you need coils of wire and magnets. Passing a magnet over a coil will create small amounts of electricity. Power Companies use what are called turbines to produce their power. Just on a MUCH larger scale then what you might build in your basement.
Almost all electricity that is used commercially (except solar panels) uses turbines. Wind, hydro, coal, geothermal, and even nuclear power plants all use the same basic concept.

Best bet is a gasoline powered generator set of adequate capacity. Units good for a few kilowatts are available for a few hundred dollars. Use your electric bill, or add up the various loads, to see how much power is required. Be aware that these emit carbon monoxide, a deadly poisonous gas, so must be used out of doors and well away from any closed structure.

To get off the power grid and create your own, there are a few ways. You can get a BUNCH of solar panels and a BUNCH of batteries and either run your house on 12 volts ar get INVERTERS to change it to 120vac.

There are a lot of companies that are creating systems that will do that for you. Below is a link to some useful info.

GOOD luck.

You can not "create" electricity, energy can not be created.
The only thing you can do is transform another form of energy into electricity. I recommend you photocells. They transform the sun light into electricity.
