Hey! -- The answer is both Yes and No! It depends on the type of peanut butter and ingredients used in it. Most modern day recipes for Peanut Butter have stabilizer in them to keep the oils from seperating (these do NOT need refrigerating). There are however, peanutbutters that use old fashion recipes that do need refrigerating (usually any labeled old fashion and/or natural)

..according to wikipedia.com :

"The peanuts are ground twice: pulverized to small bits first, then ground with salt, sweetener, and usually a stabilizer to keep the oil from separating. So-called "old-fashioned" or "natural" peanut butter typically does not contain a stabilizer or sweetener, and may not contain added salt. The oils will separate after a time; these varieties are frequently stored in the refrigerator, which prevents the oil from separating back out but also makes it harder to spread. Skippy recently introduced a "natural" peanut butter which does not require any stirring. It does, however, contain palm oil as a stabilizer."

If it is true natural peanut butter (ingredients are peanuts and salt, nothing else), putting it in the fridge after mixing the oil in will keep it from separating back out. If that is not a concern then, no, I have never regrigerated peanut butter and it stays good for weeks.

No, just put it in the pantry or cabinet make sure it's sealed good, too. Unless you want cold peanut butter or the package says refrigerate after opening, then yes, just follow the "after opening" directions. It tastes better room temperature than cold.

Unless it is an all natural peanut butter you can keep it in the pantry. If it is all natural, like pure peanuts ground it will go bad very fast unless it is kept in the refrigerator

Myself personally,I like to keep it refrigerated. It does get a little hard ,but I leave it on the counter for about an hour before I use it.
I have kept it in my cupboards before and find that after a few days ,it has a stale taste to it.

it depends on the brand of peanut butter. if there are no preservatives, such as an all natural type, then it will need to be refrigerated. it should tell you on the jar.
