create a conversation piece or several
make the decor tell a story and/or a statement about who you are as a person
make the look cause people to ask you questions about "why did you choose blahblah?" and spark discussions
if you're going to do a theme, try to combine 2 themes because 1 theme might get boring quick

Paint is a cheap decorative item. If you don't like the pink, you can change the whole look. If you do like the pink, you can do a tone-on-tone stripe with a different gloss of the same pink, an accent wall in a different color, or a glaze to make the pink more dramatic.
Rearrange furniture but also accessories on table tops, etc for visual interest
Declutter to clear the space. If you have stuff in there that you don't know what to do with, don't love or use, the room is robbing you of creative energy as well as calm, not to mention time looking for stuff when you have better things to do, and money when something gets broken because it wasn't stored properly. Then the room is just the same old mess instead of being vibrant and rejuvenating to be in. You may be able to sell some things and invest the money in the budget for the room. But even if you just toss a bunch of stuff into the dumpster, you will enjoy the room more. Hang on to stuff that suits your present life and only a few of the things from the past, and don't stockpile too far into the future.
Organize the space to make it more functional. Many containers are dirt cheap but if you upgrade just a little, you get something really pretty that fits your style, and it is still affordable. Plus making the space easier to use with handy storage and clear workspaces, means everything that goes on there is more about the activity and less about the drudgery of storage and cleanup...more interest.
Deep clean and make minor repairs to make existing pieces surfaces as pretty as possible.
Greenery. Cut flowers can be mixed and matched with different vases to keep things interesting and are affordable enough to replace often according to the scent and look you want. Houseplants may cost more up front but many are low effort, low cost upkeep and they help purify the air. Fake greenery is the most investment, but require only dusting and they stay nice for a long time.
Do something with scent and sound. You can put in a small fountain, make a candlescape, get a noise machine, an aromatherapy machine, or simply collect a few essential oils, hide them around the room on a cotton ball. Or maybe upgrade your stereo speakers or get surround sound for your TV.
Put a duvet on the bed, this is a comforter cover.

If you have photographs, you can buy frames pretty cheap and display those throughout your room. Look at Walmart or Target in the sale sections. I've picked up several frames that were only a few bucks each.
Labor Day is fast approaching and if you see a print or something at a home decor store, wait until the store has their Labor Day sale. You could save tons.

I like to put books on tables and magazines. This gives a very warm feeling to the room. Also, get a throw and put in on the end of your bed. I like old fashion looking picture frames. These are just little inexpensive things you can do to make your room look cozy and more interesting.
Get a bowl of fruit and set in on your nightstand or dresser. You can also snack from it.

Decorators always seem to come up with a "theme" for a room. Maybe you like the beach for example. Pick up a picture to support that theme. Then every once in a while when your budget allows, pick up a knick knack that ties into your theme.
Best wishes.

Hi There,
I normally tries to jazz up my room using interesting fabrics. Normally they are relatively cheap and if you get tired of them, just change. Try to get fabrics with interesting prints or with ethnic designs. The trick is, determine a focal point in your room. Either staple the fabric directly to the wall or hang it using a wooden rod.
Try it, it might work in your room too.
Have fun

you can paint ur walls, add some some photos of ur family, add some drapes and also find some door beads but instead of hanging them on the entry way of ur room seperate your drapes on each end of the the pole and add the door beads there. It adds color to the room!
