All babies develop differently, My son walked at 11 months and a friend of mines daughter walked at 18 months. Don't worry! Put toys just a little bit of of arms reach and I am sure the baby will make an effort to reach them. I know you are anxious and excited about reaching new milestones, but remember time flies once they start moving around, try to relax and take in all the awesome things your baby is doing right now!!

It is probably perfectly normal for her. Each baby grows and develops at her own pace. The milestones that you often see listed by age in parenting books or on information from the pediatrician's office are only to be used as guidelines. Many early skills a baby develops do not have to be taught or helped along in anyway, they just develop at a pace that the baby decides. Mobility is one of those skills. My own youngest daughter did not crawl until she was over a year old. She, too, scooted around on her bottom everywhere and didn't walk until she was 15 months old. One of my daycare children will be 17 months old on Aug. 3. He has only been walking for about 10 days and has only been pulling himself up to stand for about a month. He didn't crawl until he was 14 months old. Some babies are highly motivated to become mobile and they'll be rolling and tummy scooting as early as 4 months old, pulling up to stand at 6 months and walking by 8 months. For them, it is normal. Others like to take their time, get into a routine and stick with what they know before trying something new. By the time your daughter is 18 months old, she should be crawling and at least pulling to stand before her doctor may suspect a delay. Much before 18 months most doctors will not consider it a matter of concern. The best thing you can do is give her time to play on the floor, let her explore her surroundings at her own pace, and don't force her to do anything she doesn't seem quite ready to try yet. If you have any serious concerns contact your pediatrician, but waiting to see what she is doing by her 1 year well-child check up is probably going to ease your mind a lot. The growth and development that occurs between 1 and 2 years is amazing.

Baby's set their own timeline for hitting their milestones for sitting, crawling, pulling up & walking. According to parenting.com, some babies never really crawl due to the fact that they are not given enough "tummy time". Because of the campaign for SIDS and putting you baby on their back, many baies are not given supervised tummy time while they are awake. Because of this, babies figure other ways of moving from point A to point B, like scooting on their bottom. Other babies roll all over the place. According to the website, the concern would be if a baby has not figured any way of moving around by the time they are 1. Some suggestions would be to place you baby on their tummy and place toys just beyond her reach and see if she will try to move to them. Some babies never really crawl and one day pull up and start walking. Make sure that you baby has the ability to pull-up. While you daughter is sitting, have her hold your fingers and see if she will try to pull up. Keep encouraging her to do this. She may not realize this is something she is able to do. Once this clicks, you may see her trying to do it more and more on her own. Good Luck, I bet your daughter will be just fine.

I wouldn't worry about it, as long as she is scooting around and moving.
Every child is different. Did she get LOTS of floor time when she was little, or was she always being held. Keep that into consideration.
My daughter was always on the floor and walking at 10 months. On the other hand a friend of ours didn't give her baby as much floor time and he didn't even crawl until 11 months, and walking was at 15 months! It all depends on the environment and their stubborn little minds. :)

I wouldn't worry about it. I have heard of babies doing that. Some babies don't walk until they are well past a year. My son didn't crawl at all but he began walking at 10 months. My daughter crawled for a long time and didn't start walking until she was 12 months. All kids are different. Give her a little more time.

Totally normal. As long as she is mobile, whether scooting, army crawling, or all fours crawling it is considered on target developmentally. Many kids don't start walking until 16 months.

My little sister scooted instead of crawling too. She's now 13 and walks just fine. She just preferred to scoot. I wouldn't be too worried about it but if you are, ask the pediatrician.

All children develop differently. My son did not walk until he was 13 1/2 months. My 2 yr old daughter was walking by 101/2 mos. My niece started walking at 8mo. My 10mo old will pull up and can stand alone for a while but will not take a step even with help but she will walk when she is ready. Your baby will too.

Be happy your baby is healthy and is scooting. My son is just starting to walk and he is 2. ( he does have downs syndrome) but everything takes time and I dont think 10 months is anything to worry about

Totally normal. My oldest son didn't crawl until 11 1/2 months and didn't walk until 16 months. I don't know if doctors even worry about crawling... but I know they don't worry about walking until after 18 months. There isn't too much you can do, but not worry, she will get there!!
