I dreamt of a dolphin sitting up in a sink in a restaurant kitchen and it was holding a grater between it's flippers. He (I thought it was male) was grating something that looked like pale yellow squishy cheese.

It finished grating the cheese but then it started grating it's belly. It was crying and screaming in pain but it kept going because it was doing what it thought was right. It finished grating and then it cut two lines into the top of it's chest and tried to put it's fins in it, and it was still screaming and crying but kept going because it was doing what it thought it had to.

While this was happening I was sitting in a dark room with a woman in a white coat sitting on my right and a man sitting on my left, but I didn't know them. We were watching what was happening on a dirty black and white moniter. We weren't allowed to help it.

I've tried to look this up but nothing covers what I dreamt.

Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks! Mich x

my goodness, that's a frightening dream. i would be scared to go back to bed after waking up from that.

i think that it symbolizes something you are doing that is self-destructive to yourself, but you can't stop even though you know it's harmful. maybe an addiction or some form of self-injury.

Wow, very powerful dream. The dolphin seems to be someone you might know. The reason you see this dolphin in the kitchen is because the kitchen represents the place of "preparation" and this person is in a place of "serving". The sink represents "cleansing" and "washing" from filth. The cheese you saw the dolphin grating represents the occupation and place of serving this individual has. Not that they grade cheese for a living, but they are in a place of serving and serving or working is causing this person to clean up their life. It sounds like whoever this person is, they are fighting having to clean up their life and in the process they had wounded themselves. Grating of the stomach can represent being wounded by some issues they have to "digest". But the last part about you sitting in the dark room with the two other people. This represents your presence and knowledge of the situation being obscured and hidden from this individual.

According to Dreamcrowd:

Dolphins represent friendliness, communal living, rescue, communication, and affection. They are water dwelling mammals and in our dreams they represent our willingness and ability to navigate through emotions. They represent positive messages from our unconscious minds. Dolphins could also represent a positive connection between our consciousness and to those parts of the psyche that is a mystery and largely unconscious.

To see a dolphin in your dream, symbolizes spiritual guidance, your intellect, mental attributes and emotional trust. Utilize your mind to its capacity and you will move upward in life. Alternatively, it suggests that a line of communication has been established between the conscious and unconscious aspects of yourself. Dolphins represent your willingness and ability to explore and navigate through your emotions. So harm to a dolphin may mean instability or harm to those aspects.

I have never quite believed in the "meaning" of dreams, but hey, they even talk about it in the bible, so....
Maybe someone you know *or even yourself* is suffering *from emotional or physical pain* because of what someone else is forcing upon them. Say, abuse, heartache, self-destruction, depression. Maybe you and other people around know very well what's going on, but cannot help because of other people stopping you, or fear of what people will do to you or think about you, or because you do not know how to help. This person is someone you feel sorry for, and their suffereing ties in with what they have been taught to do, or tolerate. Maybe the people watching with you are people that should be helping, but aren't. *in reality*
I think that you will be able to pinpoint who it is you are dreaming of, and when you do, you need to talk with the,. Even if it's awkward, just tell them that you are there to listen if they need to talk, and be sincere. This person already has plenty of people around that won't help, so make them believe that you can. Good luck there.
