I used to have nightmares about them when I was young and now I'm beginning to have them again. Is there any meaning to this?

Thanks sptool for getting that off your chest. I suppose my question is as good a place as any for you to come out. What dreaming about getting bitten to pieces by wolves has to do with your homosexuality is beyond me!!

We all have personal symbols for things that mean something to us, and it may that for you, wolves represent some sort of threat. What's happening in your life? New job? New college course? Big changes? All these are a little daunting, and you may feel threatened by these, which is why the wolves are coming back.

For you the symbol of the wolf as a predator is important, but also remember that wolves are creatures that live in packs, they are very sociable, they are fast, they are clever. You could learn to 'live' with the pack, rather than run away from them. Just a thought.

According to Dreamcrowd:

Wolves may have positive or negative meaning and may represent good or evil in dreams. They could represent hostility, aggression, sneakiness, and ferocious appetites. In some cultures, wolves represent feminine energies and in others masculine. In the Native American culture and tradition, the wolf is a symbol of a mysterious and wonderful teacher. Wolves are considered to be powerful guides who offer wisdom and enlightenment. When interpreting your dream consider your feelings in it and the mood upon awakening. If you were mesmerized and not afraid, then give your dream positive meaning and accept its message.

Wolves usually represent a primal or uncontrollable side of our nature, ie. the werewolf legend.
Confronting this is just a natural part of our personal development. On a subconscious level it means you are ready to deal with certain fears that perhaps you weren't ready or equiped to deal with when younger.
What it means is that we constantly grow, change
and develop.
I think you should learn to see the wolf as a positive symbol, one who appears to you when you are going through a stage of transition, albeit one you can't see. Regard it as an animal that survives despite the odds and remains loyal to his pack.
Go visit some at the zoo or maybe read about them they're a beautiful part of nature in thier own right.

To see a wolf in your dream, symbolizes beauty, solitude, mystery, self-confidence and pride. You are a loner by choice. Negatively, it represents hostility and aggression. It may also reflect an uncontrollable force or situation in your life. In particular, if the wolf is white, then it signifies valor and victory. You have the ability to see the light even in your darkest hours.

To dream that you kill a wolf, indicates betrayal and secrets revealed.

Hope this helps a little:))

Why wolves is the question?

Wolves are dangerous, they hunt in packs and in the night, they probably try to attack you in your most vulnerable areas.

I would suggest that you feel threatened in your life by a group of problems or people, that you are having nightmares about animals that hunt in the dark suggests you feel paticularly vulnerable after your daily life possibly in a social scenario.

Do you feel your friends are not genuine and are out to attack you, or your neighbourhood feels dangerous after dark.

too little detail I'm afraid.

To see a wolf in your dream, symbolizes beauty, solitude, mystery, self-confidence and pride. You are a loner by choice. Negatively, it represents hostility, sneakiness, and aggression.

But since you said it was nightmares...

A wolf may symbolize all that you are afraid of in yourself, particuarily what you see as 'animal', aggressive and destructive. Probably your fear is irrational and stems from a traumatic childhood experience.

To dream of a wolf, shows that you have a thieving person in your employ, who will also betray secrets.
To kill one, denotes that you will defeat sly enemies who seek to overshadow you with disgrace.

It probably means you are anxious about something and feel threatened and insecure. This anxiety is being expressed through your dreams. Hope you find a way to relieve yourself from this fear. Good luck.
