Hi,
was someone in similar situation and what is your advice?
I can not find the green card and we planned family vacation in Canada, intend to leave in 2 days. With a green card paper copy and a valid passport, will I be able to reentry the USA on my way back? any other documents I may need to prepare to make sure I can return?
Thanks so much
Ale

You don't have to worry about getting back into the USA. Because you likely wont even make it into Canada.

The answer is it depends on where your passport is from. If your passport is American, you have no problem. If it is from somewhere else, then it depends on where it is from.

Wow... what country is your passport issued in? If it's an American passport you may be OK but if it's not... you had better contact INS and ask them for an official ruling because this is WAY beyond an answer on Answers.

1st answerer missed the point entirely. 2nd answerer is right on! i wouldn't leave the U.S. without that green card!!! CALL Ins and ask...I think you could have a BIG problem trying to use a paper copy. Certainly not worth the risk.

Why dont you go to the Canadian embassy/consulate and get a decent answer?
