Someone I know was once a Christian in 8th grade. They told me that they were going through something really hard, and God never helped them through it, so they left God. My religion teacher told me that whenever a Christian leaves God, God will slowly bring that person back. Has anyone experienced this? Please, no mean answers. Thank you everyone.

When a person is truly a born-again Christian, they can never
lose their salvation. When a person turns their back on God,
He allows you to reap what you sow. He shines His light
on your back and many things that happen in your life will
turn you back on the right path.

You can say it is like the story of the prodigal son. I have been a born again believer in Christ (Christian) since I was 13. I departed from my Christian practice when I was 21 and became a weekend party drunk. I never lost my faith in Christ and never denied the Christian faith but I did not live accordingly. When I was 33 I returned to serving Christ once again. This time I gave it 100% and I was more mature to understand what serving Christ really meant. I wish I could go back and change those unfaithful years in my 20's ages but I can't. I can only give Christ my all and be a light for others to see Jesus in me.

I wouldn't say I've lost my faith at any point, but I certainly ignored it for a long time. I grew up in church, and for a long time just believed what I had been told because reliable people told me it. I often said the sinner's prayer, and thought I was saved, but I was 16 when I finally "got it" and it all made sense to me. Since then, I've studied the Bible seriously to find out what I believe, and I've studied many other opinions to determine what I believe about that. But for a long time I just didn't care. The joy of my salvation had left me, and got bogged down into a depression that had lasted over a decade. I went to therapy and got some help, but it wasn't enough and the cycle of depression weighed heavily on me. That was 20 years ago, and I still struggle with depression and anxiety, but I've found my faith again, and that's why I come here and answer the questions I answer.

nope, doesn't happen. Though people will try to bring you back. Whether you go back or not depends on why you left and what you learned while you were away. If you left because you were pissed with god, then you may return, if you left because you realized that the whole story of christianity and other religions is just a myth, then you will never return to believing the mythology was true. It would be like realizing at age 5 that santa did not exist then coming back at age 25 to believing in santa claus

I was 16 when I gave my life to Christ. I "backslide" for 16 years before finally rededicating my life back to Christ. I've been following the Lord for just over 2 years now. Gods Word does not return unto Him void.

Yes I believe God will try to draw them back. It is ultimately the persons decision though. I was saved when I was young. I fell away and actually tried to prove God wrong so my life would seem ok. As I was proving Him wrong He showed himself very real to me. I'm now a youth leader in my church. There is scriptures both sides of the argument. (once saved always saved and able to fall away) My husband actually wrote a book that shows how to use scripture to break down divisions in the church. The Unbiased Truth shows you how to use Gods word to answer many tough questions people are afraid to ask. You can check it out on line.

I have experienced this. I grew up in the church since I was little. My mom is Christian. Its not like I left God but its like through high school, I was doing my own thing and wasn't really worried about religion nor God ya know..But one day, I was just thinking about all of the things that God has done in my life, and yet I still spit on him and curse his name. When God has been so good to you and you just brush him off, its the same as you being the one pounding the nail through his hands. If you think about it, you might not understand why you are going through what you are going through but you have to remember, God will put you through some experiences to see how faithful you really are to him, and then he will pull you out right before it becomes too much for you to handle... And continuing with my story, in high school I was doing everything (except for drinking and drugs, not my style) but everything else. And I thought to myself, man he still loves me even though I do everything that he tells me not to do. What about if I don't wake up the next morning, where would I end up? Just going to church is not going to save me. He even says it in the Bible, if you don't claim him right now, he won't claim you in front of his father, and I don't know about anyone else but I WANT him to claim me. Each day that we wake up, it is God giving us a chance to change our lives. So yeah, he slowly brings you back to your righteous place.

Once you are truly saved.....you cannot lose that.

Yes.....I believe that God doesn't let those who are truly His ever get away (Read John 10:27-30 & Romans 8:28-39)

Eternal security is the truth.....if it wasn't, then we're in alot of trouble.
