I'm using my Canon PowerShot S3IS to record videos. It records great video and stereo audio (if sound is at moderate levels). The audio tends to distort if it becomes too loud, especially the bass parts.

What can I do to remedy the situation? I heard that I could cover the built-in microphones partially in those situations, but I do not know how to do it.

Thanks!

check to make sure you are set for 16 bit audio, many cameras default to 12 bit audio which has problems tracking sudden loud volume changes due to excessive compression.
