I don't know what my son did to my computer but I can't do system restore, I can't get into any of my icons, I HAD internet explorer and it's been removed and I can't get it back. I no longer have windows and it's a Windows XP system. I can't download AOL or McAfee, my Adobe Reader is gone, seekmo is gone. Even Dell support won't come up. The only way I have access to the internet is through this Mozilla Firefox.

HOW CAN I GET MY SYSTEM RESTORE TO FUNCTION AND HOW DO I GET INTERNET EXPLORER BACK ONTO MY COMPUTER ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE????

Unfortunately I do not have the required CD. I bought this from a pawn shop about 7 months ago.

Right now, I would suggest that you drop you Dell restore CD in and just restore back to factory settings. This is a destructive process that will loose any existing data you have so if you can, make backup copies of all your data in "My Documents" and grab your favorites folder as well.

Just put the CD in and reboot. Boot to CD if it asks about it and follow instructions there.

Good Luck.

Put your XP disk into your CD drive and restart your system. This will start the XP installation process. When you come to the screen that asks if you want to install XP or if you would like to “Repair” XP, choose Repair. This will open the repair console command prompt. At the prompt, type: chkdsk /r. (There is a space between the k and the /. Now hit “Enter”. The repair should now start. Allow it to run until it stops. This can take some time, so be patient.

If all goes well, XP will replace any and all missing operating system files.

internet explorer cannot be removed from your system.

right click on your desktop, selecting properties. select the desktop tab, customize desktop button, put a checkmark into the internet explorer box up top, if one exists, remove, apply, reinsert and apply.

right click my computer selecting properties, select the system restore tab, is it enabled or disabled?
