It's just something that really irritates me. I mean, if you want to justify something using a book with over a thousand pages, I'm sure you can. I could interpret the fact that 'Jesus' was a man means that women are inferior to men. You could do any number of things using the hatebook, but most sensible people don't.

If it's a sin, then why isnt it in the Ten Commandments?

Anytime the Bible or any other religious document is used to justify prejudice or bigotry, religion in general loses a chunk of its validity. Unfortunately, there are millions of bozos running around the world who do just this. Everyone will be judged accordingly when we pass, and I have the feeling a lot of people who think they're all set are going to be sorely disappointed. Just take a look at the guy's response above me...this is why so many people have turned away from Christianity...bc there are a lot of raving bigots who claim to know God's will without even knowing the context in which scripture was written...or who blindly believe the version of God's word that's been sold to us tells us everything we need to know accurately and perfectly. There are many Christians who are thinkers...sadly, on Yahoo answers, there are many more who are not.

Hello,

Well you can certainly throw the bible away but there are many that would still not like it and find it disgusting anyway.
There would still be bullies and gay bashers just the same who wouldn't like gays, other races etc.

By the way, many tribal societies in the past who had no exposure to the God of Abraham or Jesus condemned and discouraged homosexuality because the proliferation of the tribal socities were important and if you wanted to mutually masturbate with the same sex partner, no kids would come along and the society might face extinction. I suppose it doesn't matter now with the over population situation but I want to show that the people of the bible are not the only critics of the gay lifestyles.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

If the Bible is read and understood correctly, there would be no problem.
Here's a good example to show what you are doing- what I had for dinner last night, I can tell you about it, ALL about it. Why? Because I am the one that had it. YOU, however can only speculate and guess about it, it's flavor, texture, etc. because you didn't have it.
Now- unless you have really read the Bible, and understood its message, you can't exactly speak from anything but at best a partial ignorance of what it does say.
Hatebook? That's an accusation leveled by people that really haven't understood it.

The Bible doesn't say to be afraid of homosexuality so it doesn't justify homophobia. It does very clearly state that the homosexual act is an abomination. That's not open to interpretation. Jesus never said to fear or hate another person. He said for us to love everyone. He also told us not to sin which includes many things.

God Bless.

Exactly! Why do you need a book to justify your opinions?

I am not afraid of homosexuals, homophobia is being over used by them to describe anyone that don't agree with their lifestyle choice.
It is a sin, it is a abomination, it is a sexual perversion, it is deviant behavior, it is a lifestyle choice, stop trying to force it on everyone else.

Sin is what bothers me.......and homosexuality is one of them.

And Scripture is NOT a hate book.....it is God's message of repentance & salvation to us.....with agape love

Edit:
The 10 commandments are just a small portion of the 613 laws in Scripture. The Law was given to show us how sinful we truly are....and how desperately we need the Savior
