No, I believe we are the masters of our own destiny although things beyond our control may happen to us, it still within our power to choose how we respond though.

Suppose you are suffering with some disease. So because you are being supplied first-class medicine, there is no guarantee that your disease will be cured. We have seen many cases. Similarly, according to Vedic conclusion, the happiness and distress, they're destined. Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovido na labhyate yad bhramatam upary adhah, tal labhyate duhkhavad anyatah sukham. Duhkhavad anyatah sukham labhyate. Just like nobody tries to become distressed. Everyone tries to become happy. So why distress comes? I try for happiness. Suppose happiness comes. But I do not try for distress. Why distress comes? We cannot explain why distress comes. You take care of all possibilities. Still, there is distress. Why? Now, this is the destiny. If you have to suffer some distress, you must suffer. That is called distress. So Bhagavata says therefore that as you don't try for distress and it overcomes you, similarly if you don't try for happiness, if you have got some happiness, it will overcome you. It will come automatically. Therefore we should not try either for happiness or for distress. We should simply try to develop our Krsna consciousness. That is our business. Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovidah. A learned man should try for that only. That means this Krsna consciousness.

Sometimes one loses his money on a public street, where everyone can see it, and yet his money is protected by destiny and not seen by others. Thus the man who lost it gets it back. On the other hand, if the Lord does not give protection, even money maintained very securely at home is lost. If the Supreme Lord gives one protection, even though one has no protector and is in the jungle, one remains alive, whereas a person well protected at home by relatives and others sometimes dies, no one being able to protect him.

PURPORT

These are examples of the supremacy of the Lord. Our plans to protect or annihilate do not act, but whatever He thinks of doing actually happens. The examples given in this regard are practical. Everyone has had such practical experiences, and there are also many other clear examples. For instance, Prahlada Maharaja said that a child is certainly dependent on his father and mother, but in spite of their presence, the child is harassed in many ways. Sometimes, in spite of a supply of good medicine and an experienced physician, a patient does not survive. Therefore, since everything is dependent on the free will of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, our only duty is to surrender unto Him and seek His protection.

Thats a tough question your asking. I dont have evidence to support this, but i think that somehow we have made the choice before we choose and a good example of this is deja-vu or dreaming of events before they happen. Some people have had really bizarre things happen to them and they claimed they knew it would. Also i have noticed alot of things "unfold" in my life the way i thought it would. That is kind of a hard one to explain too because you could say well if you choose to do something in your life then it will most likely happen, but thats not exactly what i mean. It's more along the lines of i am a bystander and by watching events in my life unfold, my mind sometimes gives me a glimpse of what is to come. this is just an idea ive been pondering, but what if this universe is simulated? If a higher intelligence or whatever you think that might be could simulate are reality then whos to say what is real and what isnt real?

The free will-predetermination/predestination debate has gone on for centuries. It is hard to understand how life could be preplanned for us, but that we have free will. However, when we consider the infinite nature of God, it is not unreasonable to conclude that He knew everything we would choose to do before we were even born. God even knew that I would answer this and that you would read it.

Our destiny is up to us, it is our choice, but life on earth has only a limited time, we now have less the 800 years to judgment day for those who are left, but this Age the 6th is over and just remnants of this past Age is left, the 7th and final Age is at hand, however it is only a Half a Time, 980 years, compared to the TIMES of 1960 years each. The 7th age is the time of the unbelievers, the first Time in Times was the time of the Jews, 1960 years, the second Time in Times was the time of the Gentiles, 1960 years.

We don't have a destiny. We have free will, but at the same time, everything has a purpose, everything is part of God's plan for us.

no, we have freewill.
ifwe were predestined, why would we take precautions like;

wearing seatbelts
following traffic rules,
helmets

and why would we have wrongful death suits? murder against the law? why, if it's your time?
