People will stare at anything
they have not seen before,
or do not understand. You
learn to disregard them.
Even the mouthy ones.
Live and let Live...

I'm not offended unless I get a dirty look or someone says something about me being trashy just because of my piercings and tattoo. It's my body and you have every right to think it's strange as long as you don't make judgments about who a person is because that is unfair. My question is, what makes it strange? To me piercings and tattoos are individual and awesome. Of course some just don't look good but the whole it's their body thing comes back in then. They wanted it for some reason and have the right to do it. Try getting to know people beyond the piercings and tattoos, you will find that most are just like you when you get beneath the modifications. There will always be some naturally ... odd people anyway, those ones wont always have piercings or tattoos though so you never know!
-The people saying we do it for attention obviously don't have any and don't care for them. The truth is, we don't care if people look because we are showing ourselves openly without being afraid but are NOT doing it to get the attention. Tattoos and piercings are for us, not you but go ahead and ask. Someone who is proud of their tattoos and piercings will probably tell you about them if you are nice and seem curious. People that get tattoos and piercings tend to be more outgoing and artistic and love the freedom of expression.
-We tend to have MORE self esteem because we don't care if people look or what they think. I myself am completely at home with myself, I don't act different for people and don't hide. My tattoo is part of me and I love it. Same goes for my piercings even if I don't have them in at the moment.

No I'm not offended at all, but why do you find it strange that people are tattooed and pierced. Its a common thing, and in my opinion I love em' both. It all about your preferences, however maybe you should try not to stare its not polite, besides if you seen someone who was disfigured, of had a really large birthmark you would break your neck trying not too look at them. Those of us who like the tatts and piercings, like them because we just do I think they are hot that's my opinion, but maybe I'm normal and your strange, Maybe I should stare at you awhile and see if you like it. Probably not, I'm not being rude, I could care less if you stare at me, but others would not be so polite. Maybe you should be more open minded and see someone for what they may possess on the interior. not what they have on the exterior.

some people might be offended....not everyone does it just for attention, this stuff is actually a lifestyle for some people. seriously, i want like 15 more tattoos and a whole bunch more piercings and i dont want to do it for attention. i just like it and want to get more done. if you were staring at me in public i would probably get an attitude and ask you what the f*ck you were staring at lol

It really depends on the person.
Personally I think it's flattering if people look at my tattoo/piercings, as long as they're not just gawking or staring unnessecerally. If you're just staring them because they look 'different' then I'd say yeah, people are going to get offended. But if you're looking at someone's tattoos or something because you want to SEE them then most people will open right up and tell you about all of them with great enthusiasm.
Tattoos are art. We love to share about our art.

People can't usually see my tattoos because of their placement. But sometimes people can see my wing scars on my back. Every now and then someone will ask me about it, usually out of curiosity. I don't mind cause scarification isn't common here. I stare at peoples piercings a lot because I'm trying to find new ideas. I know I pissed one guy off by asking him about his piercings, but I didn't mean to. I just try to find new ideas and I think it's awesome when people find a way to be who they want to be on the outside.

Checking out someone's tattoos and piercings is one thing, staring with a gaping mouth, pointing, making rude comments, etc. is another.
And it's really not that strange anymore. It's getting to be pretty common, actually.

Most people who have tats (I have 7) enjoy the attention and don't mind if folks stare a little. As for piercings, I can't say much about that, I only have a single earring...K ;o)

I don't mind when people stare.
I'm very used to it, people have been staring at me my whole life.
First it was because I was such a beautiful child,
Then because my face always had bruises
Then because I was so friggen tall
Now because I have 9 piercings and five tattoos.
I never wanted the attention, but I'm not upset that I get it.
I didn't get my tattoos and piercings for attention, I got them because they mean something to me.
