Verse..14..And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15. It is not surprising , then, if his servants masquerade as servantrs of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Then there is also the scripture about wolves in sheeps clothing, seeking to devour you..another scripture about ones twisting the scriptures to their own interpretations.

No one but JW's use the NWT..Why? because it is not accepted as a Bible for all..It is written for JW's beliefs. Do not forget..that Johannes Greber , translated a Bible too..like JW's..he got his information from a spirit. His Bible is very simular to yours. John 1;1

This so-called "question" seems to grossly exaggerate the importance of the New World Translation to Jehovah's Witnesses.

As of 2007, about 17 million associate themselves with Jehovah's Witnesses, but over 145 million copies of NWT are in print, in dozens of languages.

Jehovah's Witnesses certainly like NWT, but they are happy to use any translation which an interested person may prefer, and in fact Jehovah's Witnesses themselves distribute other translations besides NWT. Jehovah's Witnesses attach no particular infallibility or inspiration to NWT.

Since the same manuscripts used by the NWT translators are still widely available for study, and since there are dozens of alternate translations for comparison, anyone who chooses to use NWT does so informedly.

It seems that the vast majority of the criticism against the New World Translation is actually as a proxy for blind hatred against Jehovah's Witnesses. The hatred must be "blind" since secular experts of biblical Hebrew and Greek have consistently refused to condemn any particular verse or phrase as an unacceptable translation. Instead, it is religionists with preconceived theologies who bigotedly insist upon particular wordings, since these are necessary to prop up the shakey tenets of their false worship.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

The Watchtower is a Bible-producing organization. Many people are unaware of the fact that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society has printed and distributed numerous versions of the Bible over the years, other than just the NWT. At one time, the Watchtower printed the King James Version of the Bible as well as the American Standard Bible.

The criticisms of the Watchtower's New World Translation Bible run deeper than just scholarly questions involving translation and exegesis. The fundamental reasons for dispute have to do with the doctrinal teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses and showing others the unscriptural theology of Christendom.

Hi,

I'm not a Jehovah's Witness but I do have their NWT Bible and use it. I also find their teachings to be very close with its Bible teachings as well. Other Christians can be wolves in sheep’s clothing too. This, too, includes evangelical, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, and other Christian sects.

And those people who speak harshly against any minor religion need to shut up their mouth… Silenced Lamb and Christian Soldier Eph. 6:10-20 (aka Matt) is one of them. What a pity!

Silenced Lamb: I'm not even considered a true Christian because I'm still raised Catholic. You, too, are showing unChristian way because you keep speaking against some religion for many times. You're supposed to love everyone as Christ did.
And for your information, I have to repeat that I'm NOT a Jehovah's Witness so how can I reveal what a true Christian behaves? That's impossible since I'm not one of them...

John 1:1, in most translations, is a mistranslation.

Below is a Greek verse showing God (θεον),
and god ( θεος),having the same Strong's number.

This was caught by world renown Greek scholars, Westcott and Hort in the late 1800's.

There are 30 other misapplied or mistranslated verses used to support the trinity doctrine.

There are hundreds of verses that support the fact that Jesus is a subordinate creature of God, and the Holy Spirit is God's active force.

The NWT is the most accurate Bible compiled, manifesting the works of Westcott and Hort for the NT version.

It's also based on older manuscripts and codexes such as the Vatican Codex 1209.

Bibles such as the KJV and the Douay, are based on Clemintine Bibles.

The NWT of course is not going to be accepted by churches. It more easily show the conflicts of church doctrine.

The KJV is just that---a version translated by imperfect men, who decided to delete the name of the true God in all but a few places.(for example Psalm 83:18) Do you think that Jehovah is pleased with that?
They reduced him to being a mere nameless GOD or LORD.
The translators of the KJV also added Scriptures to try to justify their opinion that Jehovah was not the one true God, but a triune God.
The faithful men in pre-Christian times including Abel, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets, had no concept of such a God or a trinity. They worshiped Jehovah alone as God and as Jehovah's loyal servants, we do likewise.

How To Choose Your Bible Wisely, A.S.Duthie. recommends the NWT as one of the three 'literal' translations serious bible students should own.

theologian C. Houtman in the scholarly Nederlands Theologisch Tijdschrift(Dutch Theological Magazine). Houtman notes that on the point of translator bias "the New World Translation of the Jehovah's Witnesses can survive the scrutiny of criticism(1984, 38, pp279-280

James Parkinson has said on his webpage,"The Jehovah's Witnesses' New World Translation (NWT, 1950) offers a relatively accurate translation from a different theological perspective.

Dr Jason BeDuhn states:

"I would have to prefer the NWT to both the NIV and the NRSV. The reason is simple. Both the NIV and the NRSV are more paraphrastic than the NWT. By that I mean that in both cases the translators work out what an entire passage "means" and then render the whole passage into English that conveys that meaning. The problem is that there are many passages of which we are not sure of the meaning. It is better to stick very close to the Greek, rendering it as literally as possible without torturing English grammar. Both the NIV and the NRSV indulge in glossing--that is, they both cover up difficulties in the text by producing smooth, apparently clear passages which when compared with the Greek depart quite away from the literal problematic Greek says. These glosses often follow traditional renderings (deriving from the King James tradition) and conform to readings consistent with the dogma of the mainstream denominations (the NIV is more guilty of this than the NRSV).

"The Greek New Testament is full of riches--nuances of meaning, subtle references, all sorts of cultural methaphors--that are often lost in translation. I find it very difficult to do this with the more commonly used translations.

Why did the recently published “New International Version” (NIV) of the Bible fail to use the name of God where it appears about 7,000 times in ancient Bible manuscripts? In response to a person who inquired about this, Edwin H. Palmer, Th.D., Executive Secretary for the NIV’s committee wrote:

“Here is why we did not: You are right that Jehovah is a distinctive name for God and ideally we should have used it. But we put 2 1/4 million dollars into this translation and a sure way of throwing that down the drain is to translate, for example, Psalm 23 as, ‘Yahweh is my shepherd.’ Immediately, we would have translated for nothing. Nobody would have used it. Oh, maybe you and a handful [of] others. But a Christian has to be also wise and practical. We are the victims of 350 years of the King James tradition. It is far better to get two million to read it—that is how many have bought it to date—and to follow the King James, than to have two thousand buy it and have the correct translation of Yahweh. . . . It was a hard decision, and many of our translators agree with you.”

Concerning the NIV:

Bruce Metzger: "It is surprising that translators who profess to have 'a high view of scripture" should take liberties with text by omitting words or, more often, by adding words that are not in the manuscripts."
