Is "douche bag" a really bad word? what is it equivalent to?

Douching is how some women wash out their vaginas, so, yes, it is a bad thing to say.
It is roughly equivalent to calling someone an ******.

It used to be a very bad insult. Now it's more of a gutter slang word (more insulting to the person using it as they are way out of date and showing their lack of keeping up with the times...)
The best approximation of what it closest to is to have a bag of something disgusting (like if someone just pooped in that bag & you have to hold it), how does that make you feel, slightly embarrassed heh?
Personally there are a lot more insulting phrases than that, I just don't use them all that much (because when you do, it shows your character all too well, especially when you overuse that kind of language)...

It used to be in the 50's but women have learned douching isn't very healthy, so the word has fallen out of usage.It was always a mild,if rude description of an idiot,someone incapable of intelligent thought or action.

I don't know that it's a "bad" word--like a curse word, but it isn't nice. It's derogatory.
But who ever takes being called a "douche-bag" seriously? If you think of it literally though, it's a pretty GROSS thing to be called!

If you research what the word means, it's actually quite a nasty thing. I believe someone already told you it's like a vagina enema almost. however it has been a word that is used to put down someone for many years but is alittle bit easier and more on the layed back then calling some girl a B1t(h.

Is it vulgar? Possibly when used for a person. At the very least it's descriptive, crass, crude, and tasteless. Why not use regular English instead of slang usages to express your displeasure when it's appropriate.

Douchebag isn't techniacally a bad word... it means *** hole, jerk, etc.
