If she is scared when someone else trims her, she will be scared when you do it. It is much better to have a professional do this type of service because they have the experience to deal with this type of situation. Your dog needs to get used to having this done and if you find someone who is patient and caring, your dog will adjust and not be so nervous about it. Also, taking your dog to the same groomer each time will help her in that adjustment.

See if you can find a grooming establishment that will work with you. At ours...we do offer for difficult dogs to come in towards the end of the day, when it is more quiet, and we also offer for you to stay with the dog so it is not as nervous. There is a "special handling" charge, but it is worth the peace of mind that you will have.

I have always found with small nervous dogs it is best to trim them at home, with just a pair of scissors. They make a lot less noise than clippers.

Most pet groomers may do house calls and will trim your pet inside your home.
