trying to disprove what they say does not exist. IE: God. I do not believe in the toothfairy, It doesn’t bother me if someone else does that their own mistake if they do. I hear from your side “because you people force your beliefs on MY government” But I say that works both ways, some have FORCED your belief of evolution (which there is not one shred of evidence to support) in to the schools as fact. The new religions of Global warming and its high priest Al Gore, force their views and ideals into our government’s policies, the schools, our workplaces, even into our trash cans, that is far more intrusive than any church has attempted to do to you, so why the double standard?

just because someone is an atheist, does not mean he/she is an evolutionist.
atheists spend so much time on disproving a lot of things because they are incrediby frustrated with reality and can't understand how people can be so ignorant and unaware to believe in religion. i think most atheists are not really atheists; just anti-religion. it's just that society equates religion with god. i am anti-religious but i do believe there is a god. i don't think he's nice or kind or bad or evil, but i do believe that there is a superior "being." that superior being could very well be nature itself with it's natural laws. point is, something bigger is dictating the course of the universe. i don't believe we're here by accident and mutations.

global warming is a GIANT topic.

Why do Christians spend so much time and effort trying to convince everyone else that theirs is the only path? I'm glad you don't believe in the tooth fairy, do you want a Cookie for that? -_- Most Atheists don't give two sh1ts and a f*ck if you believe in the tooth fairy or God, we just want you to butt out of our own beliefs, and I know some Atheists push it a little too far, and who said that Global Warming was a religion, and Al Gore is a "High Priest?" And Global Warming is a real threat dude, why else are summers and winters are getting hotter, and the polar ice caps are melting, the end of times? No, it's because of humans....And as for the whole "intrusive" part of Atheism, evolution is a scientific theory, therefore, it can be put into a text book saying that "The theory of evolution blah blah blah," and if you want us to take out evolution, how 'bout gravity, or atoms? Since it's all science. And as for your argument of evolution (there's no shred of evidence) where is your evidence for creationism? And for the "that is far more intrusive than any church has attempted to do to you," How 'bout the Inquisition, or the Crusades, or insulting us?

Lets try to refrain from making this into an "us vs. them" issue. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs. If the other person is willing to listen, by all means start talking. If not, however, just coexist peacefully.
And on to the argument regarding evolution and global warming. There are literally tons of scientific data to support these concepts, many of which have been proven time over time. You can even witness "survival of the fittest" in a petri dish with two different bacteria competing for the same resources. (though technically the term survival of the fittest has been misued in this example) Creationism, on the other hand, fails to explain many things that occur in the world. Simply attributing nature's perfection to a supernatural entity does not have the same practical applications that evolution provides. In any case, you can still believe in God (I'm an atheist tho) yet follow evolution and such. The Bible may provide excellent moral teachings, but it does not necessarily mean that it should be taken literally. There are plenty of people who choose to do this.
To draw a historic example, take the geocentric theory. At first, the church refused to acknowledge this in the face of overwhelming evidence. Scientific precepts, though far from perfect, should not mix with religion.

The reason why evolution is taught in schools and creationism isn't is that evolution is a theory, that is, if there was sufficient evidence to the contrary, could be disproven. However, how on earth do you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that God doesn't exist? It's not possible. Therefore creation can not be scientifically tested, and thus it can never be considered a science. You can tell kids that evolution isn't right, that's your right. But because it is the main theory used by many biologists today, it is taught in Biology classes.

First, just so you know, Al Gore is Baptist. So don't blame his views on atheists. I'm not even entirely sure what the point was of bringing up global warming. I will say it has more scientific fact behind it than god, but beyond that it isn't really prudent.

Also, if you aren't willing to recycle, reduce pollution, and attempt to take care of the world around you, then you shouldn't be entitled to the use of this world. That's just common sense and common courtesy. Clean up your own messes, don't leave them for the rest of the world to clean up.

Now, on to science and evolution. Yes, there's quite a bit of evidence of evolution. There's the origin of man theory based on evolution, but evolution is indeed fact. Sadly some of those religious leaders like to demonize it to keep their faithful from questioning things.

Ok .. 1ST OFF BUDDY .......

EVOLUTION is fact. Just b/c its a theory doesn't mean its fictional. Theories come from facts. Its not just someones opinion.. its not just ideas that came from mid air.
Gravity is a theory for crying out loud.

2nd thing.. WE DONT TRY TO DISPROVE GOD ..
if you would know any better.. you cant disprove anything anyway

3rd thing .. It is not evolution that clashes with the idea of creation.. if this is the reason why you dont believe.. you cant not compare the 2. Evolution is how we and the world
evolved after we got here. The big bang theory has nothing to do with evolution.. which is what some christians are not aware of. the big bang theory is part of abiogenesis ..

Evolution is a SCIENTIFIC theory and there IS evidence supporting it.
Christians have spent the last 1,500 years persecuting those whom do not accept their belief.
An Atheist or a Pagan is STILL subject to persecution and discrimination in the USA.
I do agree with your statements concerning Al Gore though.
But I would hardy call atheists saying nana nana boo boo to a christian persecution.
Look to yourself then your church before making statements like this. Remove the pole from your eye then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your neighbors eye.

Southpaw makes a good point. In addition, you are absolutely and completely incorrect in your belief that there is no evidence to support evolution. I'm sorry, but you're just wrong there.

And you have to be naive to think anything any other religion has done is more intrusive than how Christians continue to attempt to invade my life.

Very simple. Global warming and Evolution are scientific concepts and are not religion in any way shape or form. They can be taught in schools under the science curriculums and promoted by our Government under the health and welfare of our communities. Religion cannot be taught in schools or promoted by the Government because we have a Constitution which forbids this. Religion is already taught in churches so it has its place. No double standard at all. Very simple.

Your right!
I think, probably, most of the atheists on here
were once in a Christian environment/home and/or
accepted Christ as a child - then rejected the faith.
All in some fashion were brainwashed and/or seduced by the secular world for various reasons. Perhaps some of them were hurt by Christians as well. Some perhaps used what they saw Chrisians do to rationalize leaving the faith (to throw
the baby out with the bath water).
They are trying to make their "faith" stronger!
And, I think there is an effort to wipe religion out of
the public as well as grow the public realm - so the "Indians"
go to the "reservation" or to consentration camps.
Once again - it does not matter one bit - human
nature is human nature - we are all selfish creatures
wanting power - only Atheists believe that there
is nothing to morally stop them (except the advancement
of mankind) - all is good - the survival of the fittist is supreme - life has no real value in itself - this makes the laws/morals very arbitrary and even more messed up, in my opinion - the weak will not be protected - no more unalienable rights will
make everyone a slave of the state and of the wims thereof!
