Why does it spike instantaneously? Why does it drop quickly?

There is already a lot of information published about how blood pressure is regulated over time, I'm more interested in how blood pressure changes instantaneously given the fact that most mechanisms would require some time to change (kidneys).

My assumption is that muscles contract forcing more blood into the arteries. Is this correct.

In some people when adrenalin is released into the body, it can cause the blood pressure to drop so quickly they pass out.

I'm not sure of the facts, it was on CSI t'other night.

I would try a medical search engine of some type
