Have you heard of the Yom Kippur war in 1973, Israel vs a coalition of Arab nations....Egypt, Syria and Jordan. That was worse than the current situation.....it didn't raise a blip on the world war scenario (not that it didn't have the potention as a spark)...just relegated to the heap of regional conflicts between rump states. When the strategic super powers square off into two camps, then come back and we'll talk world war.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, proxy wars, and brinksmanship.... After the next world war, we'll be back into the stone age and you won't have to worry whether a world war occurred or not.

There are currently 40 (+ or -) conflicts in the world right now, but none are between the super powers in open declarations of war.

When World War II ended, World War III has already started.

It's all over the world, civil strifes, incursions to neighboring countries, pockets of revolution in Asia, South America and the African countries. It's shooting war between Paletine & Israel & Lebanon, rebellion within the former USSR satellite nations, the United Nation in Afghanistan and the Coalition of the Willing in Iraq. It's war everyday with millions dead, millions living and dying in stark poverty. It will end when somebody pull the trigger of a nuclear warhead for total annihilation.

No, it has not started yet. But I think the intro to WWIII started on a nice, pleasant fall day in Iran on November 4th, 1979 when Iranian students took Americans hostage. After this, radical Islam spread throught the Middle East. Several US military installations were bombed and since then, the situation only has gotten worse.

November 4th, 1979: Americans are taken hostage in Iran.

April 18, 1983: A suicide bomber in a pickup truck loaded with explosives rammed into the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. Sixty-three people were killed.

October 23, 1983: A suicide bomber detonated a truck full of explosives at a U.S. Marine barracks located at Beirut International Airport; 241 U.S. Marines were killed and more than 100 others wounded.

December 12, 1983: The American embassy in Kuwait was bombed in a series of attacks whose targets also included the French embassy, the control tower at the airport, the country's main oil refinery, and a residential area for employees of the American corporation Raytheon. Six people were killed.

These are only several of the examples of what has happened.

No. A world war needs to involve a portion of the world at war with each other. No countries are currently at war. We, and others, are IN Iraq, but Iraq is our friend. We are not at war with them, we are at war with the terrorists inside of Iraq. If we go to war with say, Iran, and other countries get involved, then yes, we will be in WWIII.
