Do you know the difference?

I get a lot of questions on my relationship/dating site about relationships. People rarely refer to their wife, husband, boyfriend or girlfriend. They normally refer to their "relationship".

Is there a difference?

"Love lasts when the relationship comes first."

“Relationships-of all kinds-are like sand held in your hand. Held loosely, with an open hand, the sand remains where it is. The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your fingers. You may hold onto some of it, but most will be spilled. A relationship is like that. Held loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person, it is likely to remain intact. But hold too tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost.”

A relationship with someone means the way two (or more) are connected. To have a relationship with someone must involve another person, whether it is a good relationship or a poor relationship.
There are all kinds of relationships. There are the relationships you have with your co-workers, your boss, your children, your spouse and other family members and your friends.

Al-in-all, when someone refers to their relationship with their wife, husband , BF or GF it's all the same, in my best opinion.

I care about my mate. As much as I would love to spend my life with him, I don't want him to stay where he isn't happy. He is free to go if that's what he wants to do. I've told him this a few times, when he thought he was threatening me with leaving.["I love you, but if you wanna go, go! I'll live!"]It was then that he decided he believed he'd be happier with me than without me.

So, yeah, BIG difference. Some people believe they aren't complete unless they are in a relationship-even if it is an abusive relationship, at least it's a relationship, ya know? NOT MAMIZORRO! I did okay single. I was a little lonely, but hey, I have my kids to keep me company. I have friends. And I have family. If he REALLY wants to leave, PEACE!

I do not refer to my hubby and I as in a relationship. We are individuals and I care more about his health and well being than I do the little ups and downs in a relationship. If you show your significant other that you care for them the relationship will natrually and easily fall into place

Your relationship is a connection between the two of you. Your mate is the person within the relationship.

I personally care more about my mate more but it is not enough to make me stay in a relationship that is unhealthy. Sometimes people focus more saving their relationship and forget to focus on the people in the relationship.

I care more about my mate than my relationship, but my "relationship" isn't a really healthy one so it's kind of an easy thing to do.
