That is a disgusting thing to say.
That said, I think that answers given by Christian/Muslims are tedious when they compulsively sing the praises of God, it reads like an answer from a brainwashed automaton.

There are intelligent christians, (they are generally a lot less fundamentalist).
Then there are a lot of trolls on here pretending to be christian.
The problem is that anyone who fully accepts a concept like christianity can no longer be objective - because they have already determined the 'truth'. Any discussion with them will be futile, since you are wrong, they are right - and 'God did it' is the answer to everything.
With that said, I've met christians who were good people - and were able to get strength and guidance from their beliefs.
I've also met people who were brainwashed from before they were capable of realizing what they were being told.

A christian answer:
* The atheists I have known definitely will answer yes.
* I would say No, there is no correlation between intelligence and being an atheist.
Just wait until the end of our life here and find out who was right. I hope you choose the correct answer, reward will be much better than 10 points !!!

Right off, we get a theist claiming to have a somewhat high IQ (though hardly one that impresses me). Sigh.
If he were smart, he'd realize that pointing out a lone data point, even if we accept that data point as being from a reliable source (and people reporting their IQs over the internet NEVER lie, oh no), in no way bucks the statistical trend.
Religion *does* correlate negatively with a lot of good things, like education.

No, they're not. And there hasn't been ONE comprehensive study that proves it. The studies that tested more than five hundred subjects found that there WAS no correlation between intelligence and religion, negative or positive.
I'm just going to start typing "dee dee dee" in response to every question though, for all the attention that's paid to the answers of mine that use FACTS.

We are all given the gift of intelligence christian and atheist.
I respect Atheists who argue with logic, and Christians who answer with logic.
What i think is really dumb is people on both sides who think asking questions like yours make them look smart when they don't have enough intelligence to ask a logical question.

In philosophy there is a general rule. It states that those who claim to know something generally don't and those that question their knowledge have a far deeper knowledge than they give themselves credit for. Basically if you think you know it all then your not questioning. Remember that this is a rule towards knowledge, not intelligence. Intelligence is your ability to understand and retain information; knowledge is the information you have retained.
You claim to be more intelligent than I am: This may indeed be true. But you claim without proof, a claim you attack me for when I mention God. Therefore I infer that I have more knowledge, even if I have less intelligence.

I presume from your underhanded shot that you consider Christians to be a collection of daft, doddering nincompoops. Perhaps you've heard of Isaac Newton? Three Laws of Motion? Law of Gravity? A committed Christian. Or how about C.S. Lewis? Chronicles of Narnia? Oxford don and Medieval and Renaissance literature scholar? Committed Christian. I could go on, but your naivete bores me.

People from all kinds of educational/life backgrounds are involved in ALL belief systems, so there's no TRUE valid answer to your question.
Some folks might need to stroke themselves by thinking they are more intelligent than others but there's no basis for that superiority complex they have.
Have a great one.=)

Well in the Bible, in many places it is written that if you don't have God's intelligent, you're a fool!
