Well, my dad was playing basketball with this guy I like, and my dad won the game flawlessly (right in front of me). Would a Turkish guy feel like a coward because of this? Would he be disinterested in me, because he knows my dad is pretty tough and may not approve of him?

If it helps paint a picture for you, my dad is like the father in Meet the Fockers...very intimidating.

The reason why I asked is because whenever my dad is around him, he practically runs away...?

Before he lost to him he was fine with my dad and actually liked talking to him too. I'm just afraid that my baba scared him off.

Lost a game to a person who is probably 20+ years older than him? Dump that coward now!

I agree with anlarm on this. Your boyfriend should submit a CV to your dad, followed by a 3-step interview process. :D

If you will take a lady's opinion, any guy would be beaten against other guys at least in some topics. But they have to be a little bit mature to get that. Boys like to go around bragging about traits they don't have up to a certain age.

Probably your bf is ashamed that he couldn't beat "an elderly man" in something that is the specialty of young people. Don't worry, he'll get over it.

PS. All daddies are tough. It is not easy to give up daughters.

Normally I do not reply to political questions however that first answer by the nickname "clue" is so intentionally and idiotically wrong that I couldn't help myself: What happened is that after the Ottoman Empire lost WW1 and signed the Sevres Treaty in 1920 which almost meant the death penalty for the Turks. It was then Atatürk refused to obey the treaty, started the national resistance and then the War of Independence. In 1919 Greek troops began to land in Anatolia starting from Izmir. This war ended in 1922 when the Greek invaders were defeated and pushed out of Anatolia. What kind of idiot can call this war of life or death a massacre.

I guess I wouldn't.
edit: Most probably, your bf just does not want to talk about the game he lost. Because he lost to an old man. That is why he runs away from him. He thinks that your dad will make fun of the result.
If he is not younger than 15, he won't get disinterested in you. But if he is younger than that there is a probability that he would think about leaving you. Because teenagers take things differently.

Hey I don't play basketball or football or anything like that. But still my daughter's friends (somehow) get scared of me (until they sit down to talk with me). I don't know why they are scared. Could it be because of my high expectations? If so, they are right. Any guy who plans to propose to her should have at least a bachelor's degree, good command of the English language (a second lang. is a plus), a fair knowledge on food and wine, should be able to analyse and talk about world economy and politics etc.

Coward...No way...basketball is a skill game, loosing side may not be considered as cowards. Its much more better for him to show some extra respect to your dad too.I personelly like to beat my daughters boy friends in any field possible and they got mad.Lol,just joking......would you prefer your dad loose the game...i don't think so..!

Well.
Score of the game is not important. Can you tell the number of fouls , done by your dad :)

I think there will be no problem . It's just a game.
