Well, even the latest document on the subject--viz. the International Theological Commission Document "The Hope of Salvation for Infants Who Die Without Being Baptized" (the one that everyone said "got rid" of Limbo)--admits that Limbo is still a valid theological hypothesis. You can read the document here: http://www.lumengentleman.com/pdf/itc_doc.pdf

I basically takes 41 pages to say, "We don't know what happens", but that it is permissible to hope that God saves infants without water baptism in some way He has not revealed to us. Me? I think God gives them the ability to reason, and choose for or against Him, in such a way that they do truly have to make a thoughtful decision--and that some choose to serve and love themselves, and are thus consigned to Hell, and some choose to serve and love God, and are thus justified by God, and enter into Heaven.

Since there is no hell or limbo in Judaism- the baby goes straight into the World to Come- especially since it is too young to have ever sinned and has died completely innocent!

Though children are born under sin, they aren't responsible for their salvation until they're capable of understanding WHY they need salvation! Therefore, there's NO NEED for baptizing them, and if they die as a small child, they're going back to God.

I am Christian, not Catholic. I believe that anyone who has not been baptised and has not made a decision to rebel against Christ will go to heaven. A baby who dies in childbirth will enter heaven the same as anyone who asks forgiveness for their sins, it doesn't matter if the child is baptised until they can make that choice in their heart for themselves.

God bless.

I don't believe in Limbo. I'm a Christian, and in my understanding the child, since it never came to an age of accountability, goes to Heaven.

God decides for everyone. Children are innocent, they always fo to heaven. Adults should learn from their mistakes and ask God for forgiveness once they learn the wisdom of why sins can be harmful. God likes postive actions towards humanity foremost. every religion admits that sadly few want to follow that and rest keep speaking!

As a Christian, I can say with certainty that children who are Baptized will go to heaven according to the teaching of the Church confirmed by Scriptures. for those who have not been Baptized teaching is not clear and the Church through history has speculated that God in His mercy and justice finds a way to rid unbaptized children of original sin so that they to may enter paradise.

Jesus said to not forbid the children from coming to Him and today many Christians do so by practicing only "believers baptism". Christ's Church believes that children should be Baptized according to Christ's words and that this act of purification of original sin allows one to be in God's presence in heaven where no sin will enter.

if the child took the breath of life he will be resurrected....but since he is the child of parents it may depend on the parents . If the parents serve God and are accountable for their children the child will come back. There were no children preserved alive in Noah's day because their parents perished so did they.
So it is an indication that it's in the hands of the parents to save their children.

One more thought...the earth was made for man...it is not a springboard to heaven. Heaven is for God and angels..not humans.....we were to fill the earth and live here forever...that is God's plan.

The Bible doesn't specifically address this but most Christians ( it depends on the denomination) believe if an infant dies and was not baptized, they go to heaven.
