Yes, but it is hard to find .270 that is not as expensive as 30-06. PMP of South Africa used to do .270 cheaper than domestic brands but I think that is harder to come by now.

Unless you reload, the .270 in a lot cheaper to shoot than the .300 Win. Mag.. If you do reload, which I highly recommend, then the .270 is still a little cheaper but because of the bullets that are available in 30 caliber the .300 will do a lot more for you than the .270. I reload for my .300 Win Mag using bullets from 125 grains up to 240 grains. The 125 grain Ballistic Tips scream out at about 3700 feet per second. For deer I normally use 180 grain bullets that go about 3000 feet per second.
Yes, the .270 is a little cheaper to shoot with reloads, but nowhere near as much fun. Pop a gallon jug full of water with a small cheap 30 cal hollow point at 200 yards and after you sit a minute in amazement of what you see go looking for pieces of the jug and be amazed again. To me it's worth a few more cents a shot for that kind of fun.
And as for trajectory, the .300 is flatter than the .270, and the longer your shot the more that counts.

Yes, the .270 Win. is much cheaper than .300 Win. Mag. ammo. But, I would not recommend you spend a day at the range with one of those two guns. Those two cartridges have too much recoil to be plinking at targets with for an hour or two. If you want to get a caliber for just target practice, go with a .223 Rem. or maybe a .243 Win. Best of luck to you.

Yes

I prefer to target practice with guns that use cheap military surplus rounds, but .270 is better to target practice in terms of cost than .300 Winchester Magnum.

You might want to consider reloading if your budget's a major concern.
