Mangrove Snapper is in the perciform family (perch-like). They feed on plankton and other small fish. Also known as ray-finned fish.

Mangrove snapper, proper name is grey snapper. Best bite at night using live bait, pilchards or such, and they are biting well now in Fl. keys. Average size caught 2-5 pounds. World and Fl. record 17 pounds.

Not just biting in the keys, but through the IRL as well... just find a bridge or pier and some shrimp... yum, yum.
