Praise the Lord, I trying to spread the word to my fellow Christians. I am Oneness Apostolic and have been filled with Gods precious Holy Spirit. Many Christians believe that they have been filled with Gods spirit because they say they have come to know Christ but is this what Jesus and the Apostles said in his word, Is the Gift of Tongues with Paul Spoke of the only manifestation of Tongues? No. The Gift of Tongues is not for everyone as Paul has stated in (1 Cor 12: 30) but their is also another manifestation of Tongues spoken of in the bible, this is when you first recieve the Holy Spirit. I have spoken in tongues before but yet i don't have the Gift of Tongues, how can this be? I never tryed to speak but i earnesly asked God to fill me with his Spirit and i suddenly spoke in tongues one night.

Those who disagree, please read this to see what the bible says about Recieving the Holy Spirit. IT MAY SHOCK YOU.

If you believe that you have the Holy Spirit but have never spoken in tongues, then how do you know you have it. Some will say "I show the fruits of the Spirit" but many already show the fruits before they become christians, Im an example only i didn't have Christ.

OKAY!!!! i recieved the Holy Spirt when i was sixteen..and it has changed me so much..
Most people do not understand speaking in tonges because it scares them.. once again it is something that god controls not THEM.. most people love too have control over there lives.. While most people will have a way to challenge you because of " modern christianity.." it does not mean that the speakin of tonges has ceased... it is a whitnessing method.. and also is a form of prayer.. I must admit that some apostolic churches.. that belong to the UPCI are very forceful.. but you do not come across that way.. more informative.. Just as a friendly warning.. try approaching it more gently.. hehe.. i mean no disrespect by that statement..

Ignorance is more then oftern the true core of people who do not understand chirstianity.. they think it means they are forced to sell there soul... to completley submit there life too " shine for christ" it doses mean that .. but God is not this evil kid on top of an ant hill burning the ants.. you have complete free will.. god will never make us do what we do not wish to do.. so to those of you who read and judge him for what he writes.. think on how if you believe and praticed something as a christian or an athiest or a wiccan.. how you would feel if he treated you like some of you did him.. ?

God Bless
Devyn

Yes, I have on October 25, 1981. Speaking is tongues and the gift of tongues are two different things. I have spoken in tongues, but do not have the Gift of Discernment of tongues. I believe receiving the Holy Ghost is essential to going to heaven.

I am, also, a Oneness Apostolic Pentecostal.

No I haven't spoke in tongues but the Holy Spirit has made things happen in my life. I was water baptized 2 years ago and today I am a differnt person than I was then. I credit that to the HS.

In Bible study at church we are in I Corinthians. Something that I learned was that the gifts that we might receive from the HS aren't ours, they belong to God to do with as He wishes.

Yes I have the Holy Spirit indwelling within me.

I know because I have the gifts of Prophecy, Discernment and Teaching.

I have never spoken in tongues, although I have interpretted on 1 occasion (Totally freaky experience!!!)

Also, if people think that the only manifestation of the Holy Spirit is talking in tongues, than they are deceived. Scripture tells otherwise.

1 Corinthians 12:4 "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit."

I speak in tongues on a daily basis. (In the morning while I'm getting dressed.) Tongues isn't something you do uncontrollably. It's not like being possessed or something. I think some people may think that and that's why they don't ever invite the Holy Spirit into their lives. But it is something you have complete control over. (obviously you don't know what you are saying) But it is because you have allowed the Holy Spirit into your life and have allowed The Holy Spirit to use you and speak through you. But yes, I have received the Holy Spirit w/ evidence of Speaking in tongues. I do it daily, because it strengthens my spirit (it's not necessarily beneficial to anyone else but me some would say.). It's the only (type of) prayer that comes directly from your spirit. (others might come from your heart, but this comes from your inner-most being.) When you don't know what to pray you allow the Holy Spirit to pray through you.

I had the Holy Spirit the day I got saved. The bible says if ye hath not the Spirit ye are none of his. So when you spoke in tongues who did you witness to? Tongues is a language look up tongues in the Greek dictonary. Now read Acts 1 and 2 and you will see what tongues was and what it was used for. Please read and study the word of God instead of your religion telling you what it means.

I love the whole speaking in tongues thing. It's very comical.

Why is it that the phenomenon of speaking in tongues is specific to churches where people speak in tongues? If it's a sign that you have Jesus in your heart then shouldn't all Christians speak in tongues? Why is it that no one speaks in tongues unless they have observed (learned) someone else doing it? The entire phenomenon came about as a result of a misinterpretation of a phrase in the bible.

How does speaking in a language no one can understand "spread the word" to your fellow Christians? What basis do you have to believe that what you are doing is what "speaking in tongues" actually is? Wasn't it a phenomenon where people of all languages could understand? Instead, what it is today is something that no one could understand. I don't get how this glorifies God.

I just want to know where you are coming from. Thanks.

I know because I am born-again, in the Catholic sense of the phrase. Being "born again" is the transformation from death to life that occurs in our souls when we first come to God and are justified. He washes us clean of our sins and gives us a new nature, breaking the power of sin over us so that we will no longer be its slaves, but its enemies, who must fight it as part of the Christian life (cf. Rom. 6:1–22; Eph. 6:11–17). I do not have to speak in tounges to know this. If you do, that's great, but I don't. and that's okay too.
