Every time somebody claims some absolute definite outcome in general for an action or attitude. For example, Protestants claim that you must have faith in Christ to be saved. Thus, God is put in the box of being unable (or unable to be willing to) save any who have not heard of Christ or who have heard and currently do not believe.

Catholics claim that the Pope is vicar and, thus, Christ cannot Head the Church on His own but needs a physical person to stand in His stead as Head of the Church. In other words, a Pope is needed to keep the Church united.

What I believe as an Orthodox Christian, is that God may certainly save anyone He pleases in the manner He Judges to be just and right. He may also condemn anyone He pleases by the same reasoning. So the man who may have rejected the Gospel the first time because of whatever unknown barrier may still find salvation, especially if he still seeks out the Truth with all his might, desiring to make himself obedient to it, whatever it is. Further, the man who is in the Church and attends all the services, does good works, does his daily prayer rule, etc. may still be condemned - especially if all of this is done for outward recognition, for even the demons believe and tremble.

Also, we Orthodox do have a hierarchy to look after the Church, but we trust Christ to preserve us - our doctrine, our sacraments, and the Grace given us from God. We have many Diocese united under the Head who is Christ. God is certainly capable of preserving the Church, even when its leadership is fallible and corruptible - and we see this in how God inspired the Scriptures and the 7 Ecumenical Councils.

I see that God has no bounds, working with men in any and all ways possible to bring them to salvation and freedom from their sins. God is not limited by the Church, but He certainly uses His Church in wonderful and miraculous ways to bring men to salvation. But He chooses to do this of His own accord.

Yes. They want what is convenient for THEM. It is too far out for them to recognize anyone with greater priorities or power than themselves.
