i got a tattoo on my hip saturday and everytime i change the bandage theres a stamp of the tattoo on the bandage..i dont remember if my other tattoos were like that so im nervous. 1 of my friends said thats normal and another one said its not...is that normal or not? i called the place i got it done and left a message but they havent gotten back to me yet..ive been washing it a few times a day, using A&D on it and keeping it covered. it isnt scabbing too much and it didnt bleed that much when i got it done or even after the fact...its just the ink seems to be pulling out so im nervous..also can i go to the gym today or should i wait? i also left that as part of my message on the studios machine but in case i dont hear from them by the time i go home..just wondering..thanks

My advice:
Leave the bandage off, you only need it for the first couple hours after you get it done. Also, don't use too much ointment. Your skin needs to breathe. If there's too much on it your skin will try to push out the ointment and therefore push out the ink under it. All you need is a thin layer when you wash it. It doesn't need to be visibly wet all the time.
If it's already pushed out a lot of ink you might need to get it re-touched in a month, when it's fully healed.
About the gym, you'll be fine, just make sure you wash it right after you're done.
(You ARE washing it before you reapply the ointment... right?)

it is normal for some of the ink to come off the first couple of days. I would advice you to no put a bandage on the tattoo, only apply the A&D. Keeping the tattoo open (not putting a bandage) will let it breath and heal and you will see it start to scab in a couple of days.

Ok got the fact that the hip tat is rubbing this is why it is bandaged...BUT once you get home you should take it off.
I have 5 tats all of mine "bled" ink for a number of days.. the one on my back which has ALOT of purple in it bled for almost 2 weeks.
Just as long as you are keeping it clean, moisturized (but not over moisturized)... and take that bandage off when you can... I think it will be fine.
Make sure if you don't hear back from the artist today to call them again.

Why in the world do u still have a bandage on???
You only need to wear it for like 3 hours.
As for the ink coming off on the bandage, it's just excess ink coming off. Don't worry!

leave the bandage off for sure, some leakage of ink is normal, but if it stays moist or wet at all, that's going to draw out more ink. let it breathe and wash and lotion it a few times a day, but don't let it sit and stay wet, make sure it's dry when done washing and make sure the lotion rubs in.

I got one by my hip. And what you're explaining happened to me. DON"T WORRY! My tattoo came out fine! I had to have the bandage on cuz of work and it was rubbing on the tattoo. For as long as your doing what they said to do you should be fine.

Im nervous too! is it normal? your constant scrubbing and washing will bring out the colors. let it dry then use a quick dry moisturizer to help the area heal and protect the ink. hey, thought i'd mention it.

Sounds like your applying too much ointment.
apply a small amount of A&D & rub it in for 3 to 5 minutes
then use a moist paper towel to blot it, you do not want it shiny... Hope This helps you...
