I am referring to all the questions about the McCann's, and similar. Yes, they did a bad thing and I'm sure they are paying for it every day. But what happened to forgiveness?
I am sure that little Maddy, wherever she is, isn't thinking - "I hate my parents for leaving me" or similar. If she is able to see the horrible things being said about her parents, I'm sure it won't help her.
Please, let's stop the witch hunt! Can we focus on trying to find this little girl and put all our energy into that?

Did I ask this question in an abusive manner? NO! So, why are people so quick to be abusive back. I totally understand the emotions behind this, but I, like others, am just putting the question out there!! Maybe I should have asked... why are we so quick to reply with abuse to questions asked on Yahoo Answer?

Kbrownie... I'm curious. If domestic violence is so easy to see, how come so many women stay in abusive relationships and no-one can believe that they are being abused? Trust me, I have experience of this and it is NOT easy to see!

A lot of murders happen when someone isn't seeing the warnings ahead of time. They miss it, but the signs are ALWAYS there. Domestic violence is not hard to notice. Women do not see the warning signs and then are murdered. This was said by Oprah. No matter what, the little girl needs to be found. I agree. My point is that the McCann parents are one in a million people who pay the price for bad judgment.

Yes you are right but the problem is that a missing child is such a big and emotive subject. Most people are angry that two seemingly intelligent people could place their children at risk. Remember that some people answering these posts may have also lost children through no fault of them own such as diseases, accidents, murder or maybe can not have children at all.
Most of the anger is at them for putting those children in that position in the first place. Many may believe that Maddy suffered a horrific death, torture or sexual abuse from being abducted. Maddy may not be alive today.
I have mixed feeling about the McCanns. Firstly they should never have left the kids alone and for that i am angry at them. Also that they seemingly show NO remorse or emotion on TV. Yes i know many do not show emotion but come on...they are responsible for their child being abducted. I would never be able to stop crying. But they behave so Cold. Almost too Cool.
I also feel pity for them that they will have to live with this for the rest of their lives.
It is not for us to forgive them. The biggest question is...would Maddy forgive them?

I hate myself for answering another McCann question BUT if you were 4 years old and your parents left you to have a drink with friends and a monster came and took you away and I will let you fill in the blanks as to what happened next, are you telling me you as a scared, hurt 4 year old you would not think why is my mum or dad not protecting me?????
No your right a 4 year old would not think along those lines ONLY because she probably does not understand.
I'm sorry but if you think this child is still alive after all this time you’re deluded and like it or not the FACT is her parents left her to have a drink with their mates!

People don't have to forgive anyone for anything. There are some things that people just cannot forgive and there are others that never deserve to be forgiven.
It's just the way people are.

*YAWN* --- So so bored of these questions now. Get over it. The child is Gone and it'd through the sheer negligence of her parnets. I don't mean to go on but - Who leaves a small child in a Hotel room without supervision in a different country?!!?!? It's unreal. You just WOULDN'T do it.
And so they should live with it for the rest of their lives - it's their fault it happened. Imagine if they we're in the UK and went out on the town for a meal and left the small girl at home. People would be un in arms about it! That would constitute as Neglect/child abuse.
The girl is gone and it's her parents fault. I don;t need to forgive them - the person that needs to forgive them is Maddie herself.

We live in a "blame the victim" society. I have heard people say for years that a woman who has been robbed or raped "knew better than to go out alone". This in no way excuses the criminal. But we hear it all the time. It's part situational ethics, part human stupidity at its worst to blame the victim. NOTHING excuses being a criminal.

You are forgetting something - this is a website for discussing topical issues not for offering forgiveness and understanding. I think both have their places and a discussion forum is for discussion - try a 'love and forgiveness' site for the other stuff, as well meant as it clearly is.
