Yes. Dogs and puppies will yelp if they get hurt. Puppies will yelp more often. It is not always a cause for alarm. Puppies will fall. It is common. Keep an eye and check them out, if they fall of stairs etc. (higher than floor level.) Take them to the vet, if they walk funny or continue to yelp.

Some puppies are more vocal than others and if you go running to them and baby them every time they scream or cry out they'll realise very quickly this is a great way to get your attention.
Now, just to be on the safe side, pop your dog off to the vet for a check up to make sure there is actually nothing wrong with your puppy.

Yes, they will yelp if they get hurt. Sometimes, if she yelps watch her walk and if she limps look at her paw pad, it might have something stuck in it. My dog got a burr stuck in her paw while we were on a walk and she refused to go any farther until my mom took it out.

no not always. my dog just reciently tore her dew claw. never made a peep. we didnt know for about an hour. then a week later she caught it again, it was bleeding all over and she acted like nothing happened. but she has to be in pain, the poor little thing.
but on the other hand, if he's wrestling with another dog, she can be standing a few feet away and yelp even tho no one is touching her. she's weird like that.

Yes. Some puppies can be over-dramic, however. They might yelp if something scares them more than it hurts them. My neighbor has a Papillon and we brought my puppy and my friend's Doberman to play, and while my puppy's just a bit bigger than the Papillon, the Doberman was much bigger as you can imagine, so even her lightly pawing at her made her yelp. I doubt your puppy is really hurt, sometimes they can just be overdramatic like I said.

when you step on something do you jump back and say "ouch" or "wow that hurt" well that's what she is doing she is telling you that hurts. some times with dogs or people it only hurts for a second so she can go one like nothing happened. she mite be telling her leader (you) there's something there or maybe she just wants you to know how she feels.
good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no I had a dog that severely broke his leg and I knew by the eyes something was wrong. Even when the vet felt for something the dog didn't make a sound it wasn't until x-rays that we found the bone almost broken in 2.

If your dog is hurt believe me they will make noise. My dog will yelp whenever something hurts him.
