I NEVER mix drinking with work. I love to drink my rum on my days off, but mixing alcohol and work is bad and can put you in a bad habit of doing that throughout your life. Respect yourself and DON'T drink at work.

If you are in the UK, you are committing a "Criminal" offence under the Health and Safety at Work Acts. Regardless of your job, the law clearly states that you are not allowed to work at all, if under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs. The law identifies you as a danger both to yourself and others. If ever you are involved in an accident (slip and break a leg etc.) and the HSE is called in, you WILL be prosecuted for gross negligence at the very least and your claim for compensation will be nullified. It's not worth it! Stop the drinking and find something else to do. Try reading some books or play some games but don't drink. Apart from the legal implications (and the potential loss of your job), your boredom will get worse and you will soon be an alcoholic. If you are already drinking too often, see a doctor and / or contact Alcoholics Anonymous for help. You need to stop this behaviour as it will lead to scirrosis of your liver and even death

whoa! i know what you mean. i work at an office where there is always something to keep you busy. but sometimes i get sent over to another town where there is a small branch of the main on and...ugh! there is nothing to do. not many people know about it so i only get about two calls a day if that. and the people that come in here are usually looking for directions to another office. i just try not to think about how boring it is. i bring work from the other office and try to get some done. idk what to tell ya since i don't always work there. sorry good luck!

You have a big time problem if you are drinking on the job. Boring has nothing to do with your drinking. You are drinking because you want a drink.

It's good you are talking about it. You know it has to stop. Boredom should never be an excuse to drink. You need to find something more interesting to occupy your mind. Good luck.
