As always the Yanks come back to the War of Independence - actually we decided to do a tactical withdrawal from that as it wasn't a viable economy for us to continue sending troops over - so we gave you the country and look at the mess you made of it. In fact we were going to revoke your independence after the George W Bush election fiasco....lol. As for the world war - well it took you long enough to join it - and only then cos Pearl Harbour got blown up. Oh and need I mention two words - Friendly Fire - enough said about that.
Thought you might like this little excerpt though about the LATEST SECURITY ALERTS ACROSS EUROPE!!
Reports indicate that the English are feeling the pinch in relation to
recent terrorist threats and have now raised their security level from
'Miffed'
to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to
'Irritated' or even 'A Bit Cross'. Londoners have not been 'A Bit Cross'
since 'the blitz' in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out.
Terrorists have been re-categorized from 'Tiresome' to a 'Bloody Nuisance.'
The last time the British issued a 'Bloody Nuisance' warning level was
during the great fire of 1666.
Also, the French government announced yesterday that it has raised its
terror alert level from 'Run' to 'Hide.' The only two higher levels in
France are 'Surrender' and 'Collaborate.' The rise was precipitated by a
recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively
paralyzing the country's military capability.
It's not only the English and French that are on a heightened level of
alert. Italy has increased the alert level from 'Shout Loudly and Excitedly'
to 'Elaborate Military Posturing.' Two more levels remain: 'Ineffective
Combat' Operations' and 'Change Sides.'
The Germans also increased their alert state from 'Disdainful Arrogance' to
'Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.' They also have two higher
levels: 'Invade a Neighbour' and 'Lose.'
Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only
threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.
The Spanish are indeed excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy.
These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy
can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.
So you Americans needn't worry - you aren't the only ones we take the p**s out of......LOL.

The backbone went out of this country when national service was ended< and it has gone downhill ever since and will never recover. As for the Spanish Armada, America wasn't even settled then. I think America showed their backbone when they kicked the British out in the war of Independance, don't you. I am British, but I judge other people fairly and the people of that country. I do not make stupid comments that I can't support with fact.

If you were really from the UK I doubt you'd be bragging about beating the Spanish Armada, etc. That is like so ancient history and weather had as much to do with that as anything.
That's like saying you made a storm come up, grandiose much?

Goofiness.
I think most of our U.K. allies have plenty of backbone.
Most have the intelligence not to deliberately insult an allied citizen.
I have trouble believing you are from the U.K. We've been getting a lot of posts from people who, for some insane reason, think they can pick out pieces of history most of us couldn't care less about and use them to somehow start a hatred of our fellow English-speaking allies in the war against terrorism.
Kind of a silly idea. Using free speech against us.
Like using a garden hose to influence the flow of the Mississippi River.
Let 'em. We love free speech. Teaches us better and better how to avoid silliness.

We beat the Armada, we beat Napoleon, we won wwl with the eventual help of the Americans and we won ww2 with the help of the Americans.
I think it is about time we stopped knocking the US. I suspect that those who do are young and know no history. It is that shared history that binds us together even though we now didapprove of US foreign policy. Nothing wrong with that, just let us not forget our freindship.

If you're referring the Spanish Armada, the weather helped. Nevertheless we stood up to them and won.
