Decided to bring mum, sister, husband2b's mum and his sister to the national wedding show...

Haven't got a clue what happens at these events... how long do you spend there, what types of exhibutions do they have, would there be anything useful for a wedding abroad?????

Cheers

Some things to bring along:

Back pack - they have bags for you there, but a lot of them broke on my fiance and I and our backpack idea was superb!

Address labels with your names, address, wedding date, and wedding location if you have one, email address, phone number. These will help you greatly instead of writing them all out all the time for drawings and things. You can give them to the others going to the wedding show so you don't have to be the only one giving them information.

Take all freebies and any pamphlets you are given.

You can bring your fiance too.

You could spend an hour there, or you could be there all day!

These events usually have a drawing at the end of the day, so you could always show up with a few hours to go, then sit down and wait for hopefully your name to be called!

Great fun, great freebies and usually lots of discounts if you book there and then as in wedding cars etc. However, don't book anything unless you are a 100% sure it is what you are wanting. Also try and check out companies, not just by recommendations on their website, they could write these things themselves or get relations/friends to do it. I attended the big Wedding Fayre at Glasgow SECC and booked stationery as it indeed looked good on show and the company had an answer for everything eg when I said they were a bit far away from where I lived, they said they came to the homes of clients with samples etc etc etc. Ended up an absolute nightmare and when all went wrong the excuses were the length of the War & Peace novel. Complete amateurs, their knowledge of English appalling and therefore their wording on invitations etc enough to make anyone cringe. Therefore don't think because the wedding show is a big event that the companies they allow to exhibit have excellent reputations. Obviously some have but not all. Very best wishes.

Wedding shows and bridal bazaars are a fabulous place to get ideas for your own wedding. Most of the vendors are local and looking to drum up business for events in the area but even if you are getting married someplace else you can get some great ideas on everything from cakes to dresses to flowers to color schemes. You may change your mind about some of the things you have already planned.

My niece took all of her attendants and won an engagement photography session for having the most people from her bridal party at the show.

The caterers and bakers will have samples so you get to try some great food and cake. Honeymoon destinations and hotels will have drawings so put your name in to win future trips or hotel stays.

This is an exciting time and plannig it all can be exhausting. Look at this as a one stop shop for wedding ideas and and opportunity to bond with your future in-laws. Have a great time!

Wedding shows are extrememely helpful. If you aren't already working with a travel agent, you may be able to hook up with one there. Wear super comfy shoes, bring address labels with your name, address, telephone #, wedding date, and e-mail address on them so you don't spend so much time filling out those cards for the drawings and to get information from vendors. They usually have caterers, dress shops, tux shops, florists, bakers, dj's, bands and other musicians, ice sculpters, chocolate fountains, rental vendors, pre-marital counceling people, travel agents, mortgage companies, real estate companies, bridal registry stores, tanning salons, make up artists, hair stylists, and any other kind of wedding vendor you could possibly imagine. Some times they even do a fashion show of new wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses for the season. Take some sort of bag to organize everything in. The ones they give you get really heavy with those stupid little straps and maybe like an expandable file folder to organize all the information in. You'll get tons of free stuff and samples of food. You can stay as long as you need until you feel like you've seen all the stuff you want to see. For the most part, there is something useful for any kind of wedding at a wedding show. Good luck and have fun! Its a blast! Oh, and make sure to only sign up for the stuff that you really want, because the info cards you fill out pretty much gives them permission to send you as much junk e-mail and mail and phone calls as they want. If you don't really want the information or whatever promotional offer they're giving away, don't give them your personal information. However, they almost always have a bunch of drawings for free honeymoons, hotel stays, etc. and all kinds of other things. So keep on the lookout for the good ones.

I don't know if there would be anything useful for a wedding abroad, other than destination weddings.
Basically, if it's like any of the shows here, there should be exhibitions form just about every type of vendor involved in a wedding, probably more than one for each type.
It's to give you ideas about your wedding and what vendors are available to do what.

You can spend as long as you want at them. If its national then there'll be exhibitors from all over the country. Remember if you're pricing something and the company is far away from you they'll charge you extra for milage, even if they don't say so. To keep your prices keen try to go for mostly local companies. A lot of people will offer discount at these events if you book there and then, so remember your cash or credit card.
