If you had the capacity to hire people, and you met an applicant who told you they belived dogs were aliens, and the evidence was being hidden by the chinese government, would you consider this to count for or against their capacity to be responsible for any task? What about a christian? If you answer differently these two questions, then why?

Given the number of atheists who are passed over for employment on the basis of NOT believing a mad fantasy, I think I'd strike a blow for reality.

(1) Being a Christian does not make a person a 'lunatic'.

(a) Belief in G-d deals with a metaphysical understanding of the universe.
(b) It enables us to consider how we interact with those around us
(c) is only a value, belief, faith system; and helps us to develop our personal points-of-view

(2) Believing that dogs are aliens and the evidence is hidden by the Chinese government sounds like a statement from a lunatic.

(a) scientific evidence shows that dogs are a species of this planet
(b) there has never been any scientific evidence showing the existence of 'aliens' or extra-terrestrials.
(c) this point-of-view does not derive from any known metaphysical or religious beliefs.

Therefore, it can only be concluded that (1) is rationally accepted within the field of psychology. But not believed world-wide, by all people.

And (2) according to psychology circles is considered to be an abnormal thought process and therefore worthy of causing the person to undergo counseling.

It would depend on whether the lunatic's delusions interfered, or would be likely to interfere, with the job I was hiring him for. Graphic artist...line cook...possibly. Pet store stockboy? Not so much.

And the same goes for Christians. As long as their beliefs don't interfere with the job, there's no reason not to hire them.

As long as it didn't affect his or her work ethic, then yes....I would hire them based solely on experience & attitude.

And as for the Christian, I am one so.....of course I would lean towards the believer........so call me biased
