I will say this much. Segal sensai is a true Aikidoist and in fact is very, very skilled at his art. I am, as well, upset and disappointed at his movies but what the hay. I'm sure that in a real fight most who think they'd win wouldn't, but who knows. As an Aikidoist I have the utmost respect for him, as an actor I have none. As for a person I can not say for sure because I do not know him personally. If I had the chance to train with him I would love to do so, if he actually taught his own classes. I hear when he makes appearances he stands there and lets his lackies do all the work? Anyway, He is more of a skilled martial artist than 90% of those other "fake" actors who act like martial artist, wont mention any names like Van Damme. I love Jackie Chan but I'd lay dollars to donuts he can't fight for real. And as for Norris, he was a very good point fighter but again, in a real fight I'd not bet on him winning many fights? As far as well know actors / martial artists I'd lay my dough on Segal over any of the others in a real fight.

Steven Segal is actually quite skilled at what he does. But I'm sure there's a lot of people who could, though.
Unfortunately, he's also an Hollywood actor and the characters he plays in those movies just make you want to bash his face right in. I understand.
Just for the record, nothing close to Aikido is shown in most of his movies. Whatever it is he's doing, it's not Aikido. (Which doesn't have that tough-guy pazzaz Hollywood is looking for).

My (Aikido) sensei considers Steven Segal to be a filthy swear word and will not have us speak it in the dojo. He thinks he's done a great job dragging the art through the mud.

I have seen Segals students black belt video, it looks canny tough like. In the end he gets slightly annoyed with how rubbish they're doing. So he does it and annihilates them, lol. But he is getting on now so they would be quite a few people out there, that could knock him all over.

Lenny McLean (The Guvnor) already has. When working over in the U.S. as a bodyguard, Steven Segal approached Lenny and said "Try and hit me!" To which Lenny went "smack" and knocked him on his ar$e.

Steven Segal jumped back up and said "I wasn't ready, try it again!" Did it again, knocked him on his ar$e again.

Lenny McLean (God rest his soul) was just a bruiser, no martial arts training.

Yes, I could.
$80 an hour, the same as I charge for private lessons.
For a ten hour session / beating, I'd cut you a deal, only $650.00 !!!

I know a guy named Chuck Norris who'd do it for free. And another guy named Judo Gene Lebell who can do it again for a song and a dance.
