I am inquiring into this and will append it as an edit. But, readers must remember that for a powerful, stationary MRI, the hospital usually has to do extensive excavation for the installation which requires a large air conditioning unit to cool the magnet.

Wow! A 3Tesla MRI costs between 2.4 to over 3 million US dollars, depending on the software. I don't know if that includes shipping and the installation of the air conditioning system.

Just searched the PHILIPS medical site and theres no indication of prices for their new Acheiva 3.0T X-series, but, I had an mri scan in one of their older monile (truck based) units, and i commented then, although the operators did not know, they suggested top end of 2 million (GBP)
Not cheap, but then they are incredibly usefull bits of kit
