I know there are parts of the bible here and there that actually happened, but most didn't (the flood, giants and the such). So, how much of the bible is actually true?

For those who say it is 100% accurate, what about the contradictions and the fact that there was never a flood that covered the whole earth.

Brian - with the flood you need water. In order to get that much water on earth...well, it would have to come from outer space because there is not enough to cover the whole world. The same amount of water on the earth now is the same as it was "6000" years ago. So, where did all that water go? Not to mention that much water would make the environment quite a bit different. If there was that much water it would be visible in the highest altitudes (water erosion)

Brian - and to answer the many story thing you are talking about, the flood story started in a culture, got spread by word of mouth. By the time it was in the bible it had been throughout many different cultures. Nothing in the bible is original, one of my other questions was about that. Much of the stuff in the bible is taken from pagan religions such as a god being born to a virgin and a god dying and coming back to life three days later.

IT IS NOT, WATCH THE VIDEO THE BIBLE UNEARTHED.
There is also a book called the same, archeologists debunk the stories of the bible.
You can find the video on you tube, but the book is much better and in great details.

Did you know that, the Bible is SOOOOOO accurate, that archiologists have actually used it to find cites that were in the Bible. And you know what? They have found all of them, except two. Sadum and Gamorra. And, here's the cool part....in the bible, it says that God Burned those two cities to the groung. They as a matter of fact have found, in where those two cities should be, two areas of ash!!!! Pretty freaky!!!! Also...who said the great flood dint happen? How else to you explain the mussle shells, fosilized at the tops of mountians???? the bible says that the lands were at one point all together, but than God seperated them. As a matter of fact. If you look on Google Earth, you can see scrape marks going across the bottom of the ocean. i kid you not, you can see an outlie of the continets, and than scrapes, which would only of been created from an abrupt movement, not from a slow, over millions of years drift. Also, in one story, God stood the sun still for 24 hours. Now you probably automatically cismiss that as fiction, but think about this. Cultures like tha myans, on the other side of the world, made human sacrifices to the son, so that it came up every day. Ever question why they ever were afraid of it not coming up, if it did ever day? pretty inrteresting. Also the tower of Bable, there were a group of people building a pyramid and worshipping the stars. they had a zodiac chart. (thats why God seperated the lands) Now, there are civilizations around the world that have, or had a zodiac chart, had no contact with each other, and had same or similar animals (Such as a tiger and lion, whsatever animal they had in their area) and they outlined the stars, if not identicle, al least extreemly close, slight differences on some. Pretty interesting huh? BTW, they have discovered giant skeletons too. I could go on and on. Anything in the Bible, I could back up. God Bless!

I believe it is 100% acurate!

What evidence would you expect from a worldwide flood?

The evidence shows that a mighty worldwide catastrophe occurred in this world, which caused the dinosaurs to become extinct. I agree the worldwide flood is a might catastrophe which changed the dinosaur’s world so much they became extinct.

We have a massive worldwide layer of fossils, pointing to a world wide catastrophe. What happens when an animal dies today? It decays into dust. You need to ask yourself the question why we have fossils. Fossils are proof that there was worldwide rapid death at one time and that animals and plants were quickly buried. What could have caused this? Answer: The Flood

Consider the many, many similar stories found in other cultures around the world regarding a worldwide flood? Dr. Duane Gish, in Dinosaurs by Design, says that there are more then 270 stores from different part of the world about a devastating flood. One that is very striking is from China, where we find that a man named Fuhi, his wife his three sons and three daughters were the only ones to escape a worldwide flood. Then there is a story which comes from Hawaii which tells us that the world became a wicked evil place and Nu-u made a large canoe roofed over like a house and filled it with animals, and was the only ones to escape a worldwide flood.

What do you expect as proof that the flood was historical? You would expect evidence that there was a world wide catastrophe event. There is in the fossil layer and it also explains the extinction of the dinasours. You would also expect the same basic story of a flood to be found in various cultures, why? Because they all come from the same family, and would have passed on stories of the great flood.

The flood is an important story. It teaches that mankind are sinners and are under the wrath of God. Noah was a preacher and warned people of the coming flood and few harkened. Today we are also under the wrath of God, and are in danger of hell fire. There is only one excape. That is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our ark and there is a door that is opened today, but there will come a day it will be closed by God.

Debate over the first 11 chapters of Genesis will continue until either Evolution is proved not to be a 'Theory' (which, by the way, it still is) or "the Lord returns" (which Christians await).

Otherwise, it is very, very, accurate.

Nobody would dispute Julius Caesar lived, but the earliest copies of his works date LATER than the earliest New Testament copies, and so on.
Various bits even in the NT were questioned by scholars, but have been proved by archaeology. The Old Testament has been proved very well as pretty valid for the times - even the customs used in the stories are still, in some cases, practised.
If someone you know is trying to suggest the Bible contains lots of 'lies' or falsehoods - they can't do it by using archaeology or history, even down to Philistine and Egyptian garrison records of "A'biru"/"Hebrew" incursions into what the OT calls 'Canaan'.
Points like the 'death sentence' for non-Jews entering the Temple area were denied - then they found a stone "Do Not Step On The Grass" notice saying that exact thing to non-Jews, in several languages amongst the ruined stones from the Temple destroyed by the Romans in 70AD.
Another verse (sorry, it's late at night here and I'm tired) referred to two 'magistrates' or 'co-mayors' in a New testament Graeco-Roman town. As the existing evidence never revealed this, it was dismissed by "Biblical Critics". Then they found evidence that town and others DID have two people in that position before and after NT times.
Ooops!!
External evidence for NT and Old Testament people, Kings, customs and battles does exist.
As I said, apart from Genesis 1-11, Man's science has only backed up everything from then on.
As to Genesis 1-11;- Who knows, except by 'Faith'. BUT, there is still no 'Missing Link', not just between our supposed 'ape' ancestors, but between ANY type of fossils and present life-forms. Similarities, yes. 'A' - 'B' - 'C' - --'Z' - NO.
I do accept there are repetitions and problems with numbers - but again research indicates that what we might call 'short-hand' was used. A great military leader or chief might be described, by Jews or by other races, as "A Thousand Man", and then we end up with millions of Israelites crossing the Red Sea in less than a day, or whatever.

But archaeology has yet to prove the Bible wrong, "Believe It Or Not"

Well this following gives you just some idea of the accuracy:

Certainly ...
A prime reason is because D Towers, over his recent 9 year research, in his work, ‘TWO BIRDS ... ONE STONE!!', discovered, unequivocally, that Man and the snake are precise opposites of one another! ... in ALL aspects - both anatomically and behaviorally!
That is eerie!!!

But once we have recovered from the shock of such a discovery, we immediately realize that only a Master mind could have engineered such, and that random mutation certainly wasn't 'random", if at all!!

The other gravital realization that strikes is that it overwhelmingly supports the Biblical Adam and Eve, wherein it was the snake [serpent] who tempted Eve to oppose God, and set up "opposition in all things' in the first place!

Those who religiously 'hail' 'Biological Evolution of the Species' as some genuine, realistic, form of life source explanation:
BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD NOW, AND WORK ON THAT ONE!!

I believe it 100% because it correlates
with the hearts of man and where we stand with a real time living god and
because god haters have been around just as long as the believers, twisting and proding with written history to the point to
where anything except the perfect bible either goes along with it, or denounces anything that may inspire the possibility of a
god.

Some amazingfacts which I read today about the reality of bible is,
A. "He . . . hangeth the earth upon nothing." Job 26:7. This scientific fact is from Job, the Bible's oldest book.
B. "He . . . sitteth upon the circle of the earth." Isaiah 40:22. The Bible said the earth is round centuries before man found out.
C. "To make the weight for the winds." Job 28:25. Long before scientists knew, God said air has weight.
D. "By Him [Jesus] all things consist." Colossians 1:17. The word "consist" here literally means "hold together" or "cohere." Many Bible translations put it "hold together." This is the answer to the nuclear physicists' worrisome question about the atom. The real mystery of the atom does not involve its benumbing mega-power, but rather, "Why doesn't the atom fly apart?" Scientific knowledge says it should, but it doesn't. Some scientists are wondering what puzzling power, completely unknown to them, is holding it together. The Bible says that mysterious power is the Creator, God Himself.

As amazing as it may be some, though very few, parts of it are accurate when you rip off all the religious dogma covering the truth. For the most part its just a fairy tale, a good one, but still only a fairy tale.

Parts are accurate and can be confirmed with other sources, geological data, other histories, old cities and so on.

Other parts are myth. Anyone who says otherwise is in complete denial with reality in my opinion.

But I reserve the right to support them in their belief that it is 100 percent accurate as I belive in freedom of religion.
