According to biblical tradition, god is all knowing, then yes he knew that Eve would take the apple.
He knew that this question would be asked and answered. And if you want to get really scared he knows who is going to heaven and hell, (double predestination).
But if you want what i think the real answer to be, he gave people free will, the choice to take the apple. He may of known the consequences, and im not going to say that god is 'mysterious'.
People such as Epicurous and St Augustine have tried to answer the problem of Evil. Modern versions could be process thought. Good luck on that one.

The bible doesn't say that it was an apple tree. It says that it was the "tree of knowledge". I have no idea where people have come up with apple. I guess they just needed something. He created it, and it was the only tree of all the trees in the garden that they couldn't eat from. One rule. That's it. As a result of their disobedience (not that we would've done any better), we have been seperated from God, and now we would have many rules to follow to be with God. However, He sent His son to pay the price for our transgression of those rules. Without Him, we would be punished for disobeying God's laws.

The Bible does not say what kind of fruit the tree of the knowledge of good and evil produced. Adam and Eve were under a Covenant of Law with God in the garden of eden. All they had to do was refrain from eating from the tree that God commanded them not to eat from. The choice was completely theirs to make. Adam stood by while Eve was deceived by Satan into eating the fruit. Seeing that Eve had fallen into sin, Adam make the choice of listening to Eve rather than obeying God. This was a test they were capable of passing but didn't.

It was the Tree of Knowledge and the story is a fable. It uses metaphors and symbolism (just like Jesus did) to make a point. Just like much of the Old Testament, especially Genesis. Any Biblical Scholar worth his/her salt will tell you that no one even knows for sure who wrote many of the books in the Bible. Much of the Old Testament is contributed to Moses, but most Theologians and others who have done thorough Biblical research will tell you that Moses most likely did not write many of the scriptures, which may include the story of the Garden of Eden. There was no Garden of Eden and no apple just as there was no whale that Jonah was in the belly of. Research that too! The phrase "being in the belly of a whale" was used in ancient times to describe a feeling of deep despair. PLEASE do not take my information lightly. Do the research yourselves. Study the history of the Bible and other religions and you will be amazed at what "truths" come to life!

It was neither an apple tree or the Tree of Knowledge. It was the tree of 'the knowledge of good and evil'. It is allegorical. People were given the choice to know evil and decided that's what they wanted which is the cause of the sin and evil in the world both then and now.

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil is representative of the fact that humans were free to choose and, therefore, free to love. One that has no choice but to obey is a robot, a slave. Only when choices are available can one love. God was superior to man; He was his Creator. The proscription about eating from the tree reveals this fact. When the law was disobeyed, it showed that Adam and Eve rejected their subservient role and placed themselves above God. So the perfect, loving relationship between God and His creation was destroyed.

Can you imagine a loving father who does not make rules for his children?

Are you not eating apple fruits . There are many apples anywhere else on the market. Is somebody prohibiting you? It was only prohibited to Adam and Eve as the first man and woman on earth to test or prove their faith to God, but they showed their unfaithfulness to God, They have disobeyed God, so thats it. So be it. Were you born with Adam and Eve?.

You can argue the hypothetical all day long, but tragically, someone did something a long time ago that made the world a wrotten place to live. That action, was the result of a decision, and that decision was based on a naive sense of right and wrong. It's tragic, because the sense of judgement required to live in this crazy world, is the fatal flaw in the drama of life...amen

Its a matter of obedience.
Adam and Eve were able to use every other tree in the garden. Probably containing many OTHER trees of the same variety.
This is not necessarily literal, but could be both literal and figurative.
And do not forget. they had been warned about being obedient, then along came Satan, as the serpent, and talked Eve into touching the tree. Its all in Genesis.
We know the serpent was Satan because of;
(Revelation 12:9) So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

He mis-lead Eve and continues to mis-lead us.

It could of been a metaphor. The Bible has many of those. The point is that we sinned. Btw. No one ever said it was an apple. It is called the fruit of knowladge. I think it may of been a metaphor, because when they ate it, there eyes were opened to good and evil. Meaning they sinned, and suddenly understood what sin was. It could of been literal though. Either way, the importiant part is the moral of the story, humans sin.
