Loving someone should not be a scary thing in theory, but it does because we carry around some reasonable and unreasonable expectations with our feelings for others.
If you can manage love someone without imposing the person to love you back or behave in a certain way, there is nothing to fear. In reality, that's not going to happen because we are humans.
When love creates conflicts in your heart and mind, assess the situation as if you are a third party. If your love hurts you or people near you, it is not worth going after.

This is silly. You can't fall in love just because someone else tells you to. That is something you just have to decide for yourself, and it doesn't come instantly. You can "like" someone, but love is a much deeper and lasting emotion. You sound like a little bee, buzzing around from flower to flower. "I'm in love with this one. No that one. No that one over there." And, more importantly, just because you "decide" you are in love with someone doesn't make them love you back. In fact, in reality they may run away as fast as they can. My advice is to start out slow, and really get to know someone before you decide if you are "in love," and hope they feel the same way.
