Actually, both answers number 1 & number 2 could be right. It all depends on the Month of Shaaban. If it was 29 days then Ramdhan will start on September 12th, but if the month completed as full (30 days) then Ramdhan will be on Thursday 13th September 2007. And most probably, Shaaban will be 30 days (that's according to calendars of the Holy City of Makkah)

13th September to 12th October.

I've felt a bit sorry for Mossies the last couple of years down here in Melbourne. They've had to fast here longer than in other parts of the world because it's been in summer, and there are more hours between sunrise and sunset.

This year it's pretty even because Ramadan straddles the equinox.

I live near Sydney Road, which has a lot of Turkish and Lebanese food shops and restaurants. It's fun to watch the action after sunset - you guys really pack it in for someone in a fasting period! LOL! Go easy on those dates!

In Malaysia, beginning of Ramadhan is determined by either using calculation on when new moon will take place(hisab) or sighting of the new moon (rukyah). Usually, hisab will be given priority and new moon's sighting is no more than for formality purposes. It will begin on 13th Sept.
