It is to early to tell who will win. The public is disenfranchised with Sony and its continual pursuit of format domination. Look for a dual format player to go below $300 US and watch as Sony slips away because of the trouble with their DMR protection. Even a legitimate set up has issues with playing blue ray. There is also the whole issue of limiting high resolution to HDMI instead of the consumer having, gee a choice in the matter.

Well, right now Blu-ray discs are out-selling HD-DVDs 3 to 1...There are 1.6 million Blu-ray players in peoples homes while there are only 300,000 HD-DVD players...Blockbuster and Target have already sided with Blu-ray...And the ONLY movie studio to exclusively support HD-DVD is getting ready to sell both formats...When that happens, this format war will be over...Blu-ray players will be down to $300 by Christmas.

There will be no ending fight between the two format on who will dominate in the market. Instead major electronic company will produce a device compatible on both hd dvd and blu ray format. LG Electronics has announced will soon begin selling player compatible in both HD-DVD and Blu Ray Disc standard. Samsung Electronics said it was also considering development of a dual-format drive.

blue ray will lose because not everyone can afford it. HD will win hands down because even the normal people can afford it and more then likely bought a TV that is HD capable. and the only way you can fully experience blue ray discs or what not is if you have a TV that plays it as well. and most gaming systems are hd not blue ray. it takes up to much resources as well to make a blue ray DVD or game then an average game. and the blue ray and hd "war" as you put it will end when the blue ray will be cheaper in the coming of years. so theres really no point on buying that now when everyone knows it will be cheaper.

HI. It is quite possible that there will be no outright winner. The two formats could easily co-exist .If that happens we will have to use a dual format DVD Player like the ones that are available now. You could also buy two separate DVD Players to get a better signal to use with your discs.
